I have been reading that Remington has issued a double stack 1911. Even has it on their web site. All I can find out it's coming to a dealer near you. What are your thoughts on it? Not so much a carry piece but home defense or range gun. I think I may have to pull the trigger. Hehe

Freedom Group bought Para Ordnance, dissolved the company, and are now selling the Para double stack 1911s as Remington’s. It’s nothing new and will use Para double stack mags. If I wanted one, I’d try to find a used Para. After the disasters known as the RP9, RM380, and R51, I wouldn’t trust any handgun made by big green.

If it is indeed a Para under Remington's name, be aware that these things take a long time to break in and run properly. Some need as much as 1000 rounds before they work right. I know, I have one. :wall:

BTW: I don't really like the fat grip or the gun in general. But mine is a special edition my son gave me. So I keep it.

Not any experience with para. Will have to do some reading. Been thinking about a double stack for awhile. Yeah the larger grip would be the down side for a carry. I do have a Remington 1911 R1 gov. and I like it a lot. Runs as should and has a smooth trigger. Thanks for the input. When you get old you just sit and think about all the guns you don't have....LOL

The true PARA's were great. Loved mine. I have lost all respect for anything remington in the last few years. There quality in fit and finish went to heck in a hurry.

I agree that finding a good P14-45 used Para would be much better than the new version from Remy.

I used Paras in competition for a couple years and loved them. Never had issues.

Sarco advertises a number of various para frames and parts in their shotgun news add. Looks like they bought out a bunch of Para Ordnance at some point. If your handy, maybe build one of those variations.

Never tried gun maint. but I'll check it out
