Picked up a Springfield XD 4 inch service model in .45

Recommended Posts

Picked up a XD .45 4 inch service model bi-tone with the 3 dot sights: came with 2 13+1 magazines, hard case with cable lock, and bore brush and a free 20 round box of PMC Gold Starfire .....OTD with tax, background check was $446.  I have not had a chance to shoot her yet, pistol is very dry don't know if it had been in storage for awhile or not....I like the fact the Springfield went to the trouble of polishing the feed ramp.

Congrats.  XD’s aren’t much to look at but I think they are great shooters.

Personally, I feel that these were very underestimated pistols. Very accurate and easy to hold and shoot. Once you got past the grip safety, for those who hated it, a very good pistol. I still have a 5'' 45 in my safe.

And I never understood what all the ruccus about the grip safety was for. Heck it's just like a 1911. Can you hold a 1911 without crying about it? Same thing.

Great pickup.  I have a .45 compact and a 9mmSC, and the SC is still my favorite carry gun.

As previously stated, they aren't much to look at, but they are fantastic shooters.

That's what drew me to it was the grip safety and the way it pointed .....and more importantly how it felt in my hand.

Great pistols, I have 2 in 9mm. Great shooters & accurate, just take it down, clean & oil(I use 5w30 Synthetic on an artist brush) & I'm sure you'll love it.  Congrats!!

I would like to buy an XDs in either .45 or 9mm if one comes available near Sevier County in the classifieds.

The only bad I've ever heard from XD's are from people that didn't have it. At first it was (whine)"I can't find it!" and when they could find it, (whine)"It's too EXPENSIVE!"

My customers that DO own them have been of the philosophy of "Yeah, they're a little pricy...and worth every penny."

As to being dry... a dry lubricant, like boron nitride?

My first SA was a XD45.  I've put a lot of lead down range with it.  It's enjoying retirement beside the bed now.

You'll like it. I had one for many years and it was reliable and almost as accurate as my 1911. I sold it to buy a PPQ-45.

I kept one loaded for years as a nightstand gun.   I never had any reliability problems out of it, but over time the magazine feedlips noticeably deformed.

No sir, she was devoid of any visible lubricant....that has since been fixed.

I might have made a huge mistake, boys. Could lead to a divorce. I stopped in my LGS (Crossroads Guns, in Fountain City), for some HV .22LR for my Stoeger Luger. I walked out with the .22 rounds and after putting a Walther PPK/s in lay-a-way.  It’s a beaut, a Interarms Stainless steel pistol,  with both mags, box, manuals cleaning rod... all for 5 bills plus tax and BCG. Lay-a-way for 12 months!
Oh Lord, what have I done???  😆😆😆
      Looks like this!

Anybody ever try and run 7mm subsonic? Was thinking about a 300 Blackout but I'm not stocked on any ammo or components and after seeing 20 rnds for $30 at the LGS I think that boat has sailed for now.
I've got an old Contender in 7mm TCU that I haven't shot in eons. Wondered if anyone had tried running something like that suppressed? I do have some makins' to get that going.

Ordered a Shadow Systems MR920 optics-ready Combat model tonight.  I should have it within the next 21 days according to the terms of the sale.  Everyone is so damned backlogged due to the volume of sales lately. 🤪

This will bring me almost full circle back to a Glock 19 sized gun.  I've got a few G45 models still that I won't part with, so that covers my 17rd Glock platform needs, but I have rediscovered the desire for the G19 size during some recent training.  Oh well... it's not like you can take money with you when you go, and my kids would just spend it on something other than guns.  🙂

Now I need to decide what I am thinning out of the herd.  I've got an idea in mind but I need to take some current photos so I can go ahead and list it on TGO tomorrow.
