Screw this new junk and bring out a short run of brand new P-Series P89's  I'd be in line to buy 3 !!!!! They are big and chunky but they are reliable as a Glock 17 gen 2. I bet they'd sell more than they could imagine.

Ruger surrendered that market to Hi-Point.  :P

I meant it half way as a joke , but those P-Series are great for experimenting with different loads when you reload your own ammo. They will take a good beating from heavy loaded ammo and still run fine.

its lost market share in the budget pistol line up.....the E9 had low sales numbers competing with S&W needs a catchy name like the SD9 (Self Defense)  so the eliminate the E9 and make a Security9 so now women will and newbies can grasp the concept and bam we have a new dart to throw at the dart board ..Meanwhile they have an SR9 thats  looks old (10 years old now) but is really a great gun if you ever tried one,VERY good pistol but in a land of Gen 5s,2.0s,320s,P10c etc they are being left behind

They also have the "American"  9MM which I have no idea why

MFG of confusion in my eyes,id like to see a SR9 2.0

That's what I was wondering too . Sounds weird but their old P-Series frames were cast aluminum and they were tougher than anything I ever seen.

Beretta 92/M9 rails are aluminum alloy, obviously hasn't been a prob.

What makes me wonder about this is how thin the rails look like on this new gun. The P-Series and the Beretta 92/M9 are way thicker. But then again , Ruger made the P-95 and P-97 with polymer/fiberglass frame rails (no metal at all) and they are still going strong on mine and several others even today !

The rails look perfectly normal to me.

Nevermind, I reckon y’all are talking about slide rails, not accessory rails.

Regardless, this new offering has nothing to do with them things Ruger put out in the 80’s.

Of the ones that have mentioned "innovation," how many own a 1911?

:bored:

Don’t misunderstand me. Sure Ruger had some innovation far back but not that much TBH.

I don’t own a 1911 and it isn’t innovative now but it sure was back in the day.

Now the Glock Gen 5, now that’s innovative!

Glock has not had any innovation in a long long time. Most manufacturers have not. I think we are going to see a leap in a few years once engineers get a little further on incorporating technology into firearms. It is going to open all kinds of new issues.

Interesting times.

Honestly, I have tried to figure out what could possibly be done in small arms development that hasn’t been done yet since all we see at SHOT show every year is more polymer striker 9s and ARs.

Only thing I can think of is incorporating technology into it and I don’t think the market is ready for it quite yet. Caseless ammo or magnetic propulsion is still a ways off.

I think that there is room for innovative thinking. The Hudson H9 is an example of relocating the locking lugs, and the recoil spring for a lower bore axis.

I think the mainstream companies avoid this because they all now have shareholders to report to. Too much fear of failure. Small operations must think like this to get a leg up. Is the H9 the future? I'm not sure but it is a real evolutionary step, time will tell...

Quackenbush air guns. Still, been around 21 years.

Meh, charged air guns around since late 1700s. Lewis and Clark carried one.

I really just can't imagine anything truly revolutionary as long as the lethal part remains within gunpowder/bullet technology.
