Trailboss for plinker load 45/70?

Recommended Posts

Plinking may be the wrong word. :)  But I don't want a full powerhouse load that will knock me down either. I shot another fellow's old trap door years ago, and whatever he had was nice. It was more like a .50 muzzleloader push on the shoulder rather than a mule kick. I believe he told me those were 405 gr cast.

I’ve got a few 45-70s including a handi-rifle. I don’t find the recoil to bad out of the H&R even with full house loads.  Seems like mine has a decent recoil pad.

Seems like you could get a soft shooting 300gr. load without much problem.

Hi. Another really fun load with your 300gr bullet (I believe MBC calls it the Buffalo #2) is 8 grains of Bullseye. It's not position sensitive, and can be fairly accurate to about 200 yds. Best of all, you can take a box of 50 to the range, shoot them all, and come home with your shoulder intact. Ed
