Wait til you see your next gas or electric bill!

I have a kid in college and another in braces. I feel your pain.

I was going to mention the bill for heating the house this month.  I am scared to death of what it's going to look like.  Last year my wife was working during the days and my daughter was in daycare.  This year they're all staying home with the new boy, and that means our power bills are going to be much higher.

I switched the majority of our lighting at home to LED bulbs to save on power because no one seems to turn the dang things off.  *sigh*

Heck I hit a rock in my wifes Durango and busted both right tires 375 including towing, spindle on my 2006 ram 301.00,  gotta replace both manifolds on my ram truck 300 to 400 for parts plus labor @400. Now my electric bill just showed up at a whopping 373.00. It is what it is, I just thank God he granted me one more day to try and live for Him.

I have suspicion that the utilities here have some sort of bill leveling process. There have been several occasions where I expected horrendous utility bills due to extreme heat/cold, but didn't get them immediately following the event. The bills were higher, but not double or worse. Then the bill stayed higher for 1-2 months after before falling back to normal.  We also gotten unusually low bills, so the averaging effect goes both ways.

So that tells me either they're intentionally leveling the bills or they only check the meters quarterly and spread the offset out over the period. I have read that utilities in areas where cost is much higher than here do similar things.

I think you have to sign up for the electric bill averaging thing.  I was on it years ago, you pay xx/month, and make up or get the difference on an annual basis.

I had a wreck on 11/26, but only cost me the deductible of $500, have a 7 y/o grandson so that takes the majority of xmas $$ right there.  Everybody else gets the leftovers/scraps.  LOL  Wife's b day is in 6 days.  Luckily, my side of the family quit exchanging bday & xmas gifts a decade ago, we get what we need or want through out the year, so why stress over getting someone something they don't want/need.  I still get mom some little something tho.  Wife & I are the same way, so we just go out to eat and get a card for each other on b days.

Maybe I need to get some LED's for inside the house since the wife doesn't believe in turning off lights either.  LOL

In our house, it's me that turns on the lights. I hate dark rooms. My wife would live with a 10 bulb. So yes, I'm starting to look at LEDs.

Just a soon as Uncle Phil and I use all the incandescent Reveal bulbs we bought when Big Al was hyping the evils of those horrible bulbs.

Ya know, your property taxes don't have to be paid until late Feb of the next year, if you want to spread that out...
