So Glock, Beretta, and Sig can show up for the competition but they won’t beat out the S&W/GenDyn M&P if judged on performance, and if it’s picked on politics they don't need to bother with showing up.

I've owned two M&Ps in both full sized and compact, and both were POS, so I hope that they wouldn't base a decision on just the manufacturer being an American company.

I think the premise behind trying to get an American company is to assure a reliable flow of these weapons, where the military would not be getting cut off by embargo or war. And did the DOD not field a set of specs to potential contractees  saying "this is the minunum we expect"?

Or is this whole thing just an exercise in pocket lining by a bunch of cake-eating yahoos?
