Walther CCP

Recommended Posts

The CCP had multiple issues from day one. From what I read on the Walther forum, it hasn't gotten much better. Some are OK, some not.

I fell in love with this gun when it was first announced. Sounded great on the surface, then I

started reading posts from owners, etc., that were discouraging ( that's being nice ).

Hence, the low price, maybe.......

Gave up on it & bought a PPS M2, 9mm. Really like it, no issues.

I think you made a good choice. My PPS M2 is a pretty accurate pistol, I can get a decent grip, and is not near as snappy as the G43.

The CCP was designed from the ground up. Problems were somewhat in design ( kinda out in left field ), but the early pics I saw from owners, was pee poor machining, fit, burrs, etc.

I used to be a machinist & the defects stood out like a sore thumb. Some of this has been corrected, I'm told, haven't seen any proof of that.

Also, basic disassembly for cleaning was a royal pain. Required a special tool ( provided ),

and some luck.

This is not something you would expect with Walther's name on it. I fell in love with this thing when I first heard about it, but man I got slapped backwards when the reviews started trickling out.  Gave up & bought the PPS M2, smart move, I think.

The CCP is an Umarex made gun with Walther's name on it.  Not really a direct relationship to the PPQ and P99s.  Umarex makes all the crappy stuff in the Walther line like the P22.
Maybe so, but I owned a P-22 for about two years and never had a failure that I recall. Except when kept trying to push the safety lever down instead of up. [emoji11]

I have one that was always pretty crappy. Finally wound up with a cracked slide. Walther did at least  make it good.

I've had one since fairly early on...in the 24K serial series. Never a problem, accurate, easy to rack & shoot. The take-down isn't a big deal once you get used to it. But it IS a bit of a niche gun, not for everyone. I do regularly CC mine...it's been very reliable.
