Need to ream 12 ga full choke to skeet or imp cyl

Recommended Posts

Anybody know a gunsmith who can open up a full choke to skeet or improved cylinder?   I have an Ithaca/SKB 30” barrel with vent rib that the OD is too small to set up for screw in chokes.  I live in McMinn County but travel to Chattanooga and Nashville regularly so anybody in those areas would be great.

They’re not local but Wright’s Inc in IL can do it. If it were mine, I’d had it threaded instead.

Everyone I’ve asked about cutting and threading it for choke tubes has told me the outside diameter is too small to allow it. At this point I’m gonna buy a ball hone and just do it myself.

So have you looked at replacement barrels? Not sure on price, but might save a bunch of trouble

Yes.  I actually already have another 26” with a modified choke that I’ve been shooting.  Other barrels that I’ve seen for sale are more than I paid for the gun.  😂
