Who knows Aluminum plate and green G10

Recommended Posts

I stumbled across a 3x4x .5 sheet of green G10 and wondered what some of the uses for it were. I figured you guys that make knifes would be the ones to ask. I also turned up some .25 aluminum plate that's pretty nice and large.  If anyone has any good ideas I would love to hear them. Sunfish

None that I have found. Its not mill finish it's polished. It has brown paper between the sheets and is 4 x 10

With no markings, it could be a variety of alloys. None of them are good for making knives. Aluminum can be sharp, but it won't hold an edge at all.  It's great for lots of stuff, but bladed tools aren't on the list.

Could you make the guards from Aluminum ?

Yep.  Though I wouldn't use it for a guard (or liners) on a knife that would get wet routinely. The aluminum guard pressed against the steel blade sets up a galvanic couple. Add water and you get accelerated corrosion.
