Prayers being sent for him and his 3 daughters. Sounds like he is in the fight of his life and I pray he wins it. 

Another one of those cases of they should have waited on SWAT to kick the door in.

In this case, I agree, but that isn't always feasible. SWAT takes time to assemble, so some departments only call them in for higher risk situations. They may have not considered him dangerous, at least not so dangerous that SWAT was necessary.

I don't know? He had already cut one officer in the dollar Store with a hunting style knife and escaped the scene to the apartment. They had him cornered in the apartment and he had already assaulted a police officer so that should indicate he was not willing to surrender easily.
