NY Lawmakers Want ‘Social Media Checks’ Before Gun Purchases

Recommended Posts

Just when you think the gun grabbers have reached the upper limits of insanity, they raise the bar :stare:

Two New York lawmakers are working to draft a bill that would propose a social media check before a gun purchase.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and state Sen. Kevin Palmer’s proposal would allow authorities to review three years of social media history and one year of internet search history of any person seeking to purchase a firearm.

“A three-year review of a social media profile would give an easy profile of a person who is not suitable to hold and possess a fire arm,” Adams explains.

The two are hoping to identify any hate speech on social media profiles, which are often revealed only after someone is arrested in a mass shooting.

Like I said, we must stay vigilant, they will throw everything at the wall to see what sticks.  They've failed time and time again with direct attack, so they'll attack at the fringes, making it harder, more checks, taxing ammo, guns etc at a ridiculous rate.  We need to stop allowing those things that will not affect us directly, and fight every single anti gun proposal they present, no matter how ridiculous it may seem.

Lunacy.  So how would this work?  Subpoena the records from search providers and social media sites as part of every background check?

I mean I'm sure Facebook would gladly give up the information, just like the ATF having free reign and access to this site and others I'm sure.

Here in TN you have to get your own driving records to take to court to get a license back. So .gov will make you provide the info needed to get a firearm. WA just passed prop 1639, wait 10 days to buy a semi auto rifle, MUST keep firearms under lock and key at all times if not in your hand. You can be convicted if someone steals your firearm and commits a crime. If you see a therapist and take meds for a couple of months years ago it could be used to keep you from having a firearm.

Our world has gone NUTS!!!

With the Dems taking control of the house you will see a lot more of this in both some states and Fed. They know their nonsense won’t pass, or wouldn’t hold up in court if it did. They just want to claim they are trying to do something about gun control. Don’t forget they are liberals; violating the Constitution is okay with them.

This does bring up an interesting point though. Employers can check your social media postings, especially if brought to their attention. We’ve seen a lot of people lose their jobs over FaceBook posts.

The sad thing is that last Tuesday was our best way to stop it. Hope we don’t lose the senate and WH in 2 years :panic:

I think that’s part of the plan... it couldn’t work. Buying a gun would probably take as long as getting a mortgage on a house.

But it would create a new government agency, employing people that can’t hold a job anywhere else. Dems love that.

Is anyone really surprised? This kind of crap is the end game. I will not defend bigotry, but if someon is a bigot they have as much of a right to be as someone does to say kum bye ah we are all equal. I am hoping as socialist and communist as the democratic party is getting that justice clarence thomas decides to retire while a republican can replace him or we are screwed.
