Winchester 55

Recommended Posts

Newbie here, I just joined a few days ago.

Over Christmas I dug out my first rifle that I bought in 1958 with paper route money. As I recall it was around $10-$15 which was probably a months pay for a kid at the time. The Winchester 55 was sold as a single shot, automatic, 22... I have fond memories of placing it across my bike handlebars and riding through town on the way to the dump to shoot rats and cans. Guess that couldn't happen these days. Anyway, I have been looking for a serial number and as far as I can tell there is none. Was there a period of time that SN's weren't required or should I keep looking?

I have a few other toys including a new LCP, old 870 and a MINI 14. Really glad to find the board, lots to catch up on.

Thanks

WME
