Question about out of state visitors?

Recommended Posts

If a person from another state which has Constitutional Carry (no actual printed permit or card) is visiting our fair state, can they legally concealed carry here? I know that Tennessee honors all other states permits. I was just wondering what the case was when the is no actual printed permit.

Exactly as @DaveTN states.

Which is why if Tennessee were to ever surprise us and gain constitutional carry, I'd personally prefer that alongside it there was some permitting process to keep reciprocity with other states.

I personally think it'd suck to gain constitutional carry but lose all of your reciprocity.

But...seeing how legislation in Tennessee has been, I'll roll over in my grave (because I'll have been dead a long time) if they ever pass constitutional carry.

I like the idea of constitutional carry but actually like having a state-issued permit.

In the event of interaction with law enforcement I would rather show a government-issued ID card versus a pocket-sized version of the Bill of Rights

Under constitutional carry, what prevents law enforcement from detaining you to make sure you are legal (running your info like they do for a traffic stop)

Nothing. You can be a suspicious person that the Police check out with or without a gun. I don’t see where carrying a gun would have much impact unless some other law was being violated or you are a prohibited person. Whether or not you have to ID depends on the laws of the state you are in.

Well, among the states who have it, so far only Vermont doesn't also offer permits.
