Wiretapping Firearms Through a Wireless Network

Abstract
Methods, systems, and devices for tracking firearms in a wireless communication system may include a firearm configured to send sensor data to a non-recording telephone device via a telephone call to enable a CALEA server to intercept the data via a wiretap. The firearm may include various sensors that collect data about the firearm's location, use, remaining ammo, and any other information regarding its surroundings, which may be sent via the telephone call. A CALEA server may store the firearm data obtained via the wiretap.

Looks like this may be left over from the electronic, traceable gun craze from a few years ago.  None of which really worked or was practical.

What if that becomes all that's available? Lawmakers do the darndest things...

My WAG is that unless the feds paid for the cost of doing that it would make the price of guns prohibitive and the SCOTUS would rule it unconstitutional. Just like they will when the Dems want to put a big azz tax on ammo to try to have gun control. :)

Dont know how complex or practical this would be for existing firearms, it said it could detect availiable ammo left in the gun?? Perhaps shots fired and time signature of shock from recoil??

A basic "chipped" gun however would be very practical. Too damned practical for those who want to neuter the 2ndA. It could be pemanently attatched to any firearm and not hinder function. Caught with your gun chipless and you get arrested. Of course criminals don't care and will not comply with it.

Look for a "chipped gun" law in a Liberal/Dem controlled City or State being proposed anytime now. Big Brother will know what you have if they get close enough to read the chip wirelessly. Hell, they might even have real time maps in big cities of chipped gun locations and movements if enough readers were placed around city centers one day.
