FFL shipment discussion split from trading post

Message added by Chucktshoes

I split this discussion off to a new thread so as to cease the clutter in @TNman207 sale ad. Please continue any discussion not related to purchasing his item here. Thanks.

If you are not a dealer, it's not likely a dealer will send you a copy of their FFL. You'll have to send a copy of your TN DL with the gun so the dealer can log it in.

They have done so in the past with no hesitation. A copy of the license will be included in the shipment, as well as for my files.

So you would ship a hand gun out of state to someone who claims to have an FFL w/o proof? This is what you're implying with your reply.

No, I think that's what you're reading into his reply. I think it was a couple of points about shipping s firearm, not intended to be a comprehensive list of steps.

No. That is why I ask for a copy of their license before shipping. I ship using Fed-x.

An FFL has a storefront/business, pretty easy to ascertain.

And well you should but I was referring to smiley's reply, not yours.

And based on that you would blindly ship a firearm to said business w/o a copy of a current license?

It is my understanding that not all FFLs will accept a transfer from a non FFL, so in those cases a seller would have to have a local FFL ship the weapon for them, probably incurring an additional fee.

I wont buy a firearm from out of state unless it ships from a FFL and is shipped to a FFL. Have I missed out on a few sales, yes, but I have not bought a firearm that did not clear a check.

Other than name brand online retailers, Grab a Gun, Buds; I haven’t had to deal with buying from other states. That may be about to change, some pricing on used guns on GB and AL is looking pretty good compared to what I can buy used locally. I assume if someone sends me their info its pretty easy for me to verify who they are and if they are an FFL. GB appears to be pretty straight forward, AL looks like the wild wild west of gun buying/selling.
