So they went to a lot of trouble to reinvent a .50 BMG?

No. From stuff I read closer to a .700 nitro. Basically they made a single barrel double rifle.

The 50 BMG is very manageable and pleasant to shoot in most available platforms. This thing and the 700 Nitro can kill on the business end and may cripple or maim on operator end.

I was just thinking from a ballistic perspective... velocity and energy is very similar to .50 BMG.

They need to add a muzzle brake or make it a bench rest rifle. Else it's just a "hold my beer and watch this" toy.

I remember being young and dumb enough to shoot something like that. Now I just think its funny to watch folks build stuff that is uncomfortable to shoot. Only to find out they are 50 years (or more) too late. :)

I think it was just a toy to begin with, but since they are machinists, making a break and threading the barrel should  easy.

Bored machinists... now I understand.

My Dad is a retired machinist.... Boy the crap he used to make.

He said while in school in the 60's he worked at a machine shop and they were fixing a demilled 50 cal in their free time. He never knew what happened to it. One weekend it disappeared out of the corner of the shop. Lol

This reminds me how much I want to shoot a 4 bore rifle. I know I’ll never be able to afford to own one like a gorgeous Holland & Holland, but I’d love to just hold and fire one at least once.
