New Springfield Hellcat

Just watched some reviews yesterday from the gun folks on youtube, seems like an interesting option vs the P365.  I especially like that it comes with a plate to mount a red dot on, if I had more faith in the RMSc I would likely get one.  Hoping that the sig Romeo 0 has some better reviews

The built in sight sounds interesting. I'd like to see it. The red dot mount seems odd on a compact EDC gun. It could snag on clothing so it seems to be counterproductive to the primary purpose of the gun.

Exactly. But you are going to see a lot of folks willing to change. You are witnessing a big change in handgun optics. A lot of companies are putting big bucks into the development of these small, extremely sturdy, red dots that can take the abuse of carry, or eventually even of Police Duty Weapons. Yeah, Yeah, I know there are some cops using them already, but they aren’t mainstream yet.

In a couple of years, they will be even tougher. And they won’t be $400 (Shield RMSc used on Hellcat samples); they will be $100. The optic in the Hellcat isn’t built in; you have to buy it. It was test samples went out with them already installed. The Vortex Venom, Viper or the Burris Fastfire, you can catch on sale for $200 now. I’m sure it won’t be long before reasonably priced models are available by many handgun manufacturers. These sub compacts are belly guns; they don’t even need sights. But some very good marketing people are giving folks what they want.

It’s technology; you can’t stop it. Lead, follow, or get out of the way.
