Gun show locations pros and cons??

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to get going to more gun shows. But I've noticed a lot of them seem to be small and not very worth while. So I was wondering if I could get some help from you kind folks on where the best locations usually are. I live in murfreesboro and stay between Nashville and Columbia mostly and have been to the murfreesboro (Middle Tennessee Expo Center)  one a few times now, and it's a decent size with two big rooms that are usually full wall to wall. But the columbia one in the national guard armory is always too small with not enough vendors (same with the Fayetville one) so if you have any info or know about the average size of venues for the gun shows I would like to know.  The Dickson gun show is this coming weekend. And the Lebanon one late next month

I thoroughly enjoyed the Lebanon show at the armory.  Relatively small, but packed.  Only bought one gun and would have bought a couple if I had more gun money.

Like national guard armory small?

I usually go for the ammo deals and I've noticed the smaller the venue the higher the prices that's why I like the murfreesboro one.  Instead of just 1 or 2 ammo venders there are usually 3 or 4 and I can find my 9mm for closer to $80/500rnds with the Columbia and fayetville shows in the armories the 1or 2 vendors charge closer to $115/500

Have you checked for your ammo online? Most have free shipping if you are buying over 500-1000 rounds.

I used to go to the gun shows, Murfreesboro is probably the best in the Midstate. Most of my gun shopping is done online now, both new and used.

However, here are a couple I would like to check out. The one in Virginia is next week.

Do you have any ammo sites you could recommend?  I've looked around but nothing really stood out to me with great prices

There are many that are good, maybe some others will post some they have had good luck with. You just have to watch for sales. For example, I’ve bought Federal HST handgun ammo at nearly the price of range ammo at Target Sports USA when they ran a sale.

I would say the next two weeks leading up to Black Friday will be the best time to stock up. I haven’t been to Wal-Mart since they announced they would stop selling ammo, but they have always been the lowest price I could find on WWB and UMC bulk packs.

Target Sports USA is probably the one I have used the most lately.

I’ve used Freedom Munitions ammo, and its been good.

The prices aren’t too bad at the new Sportsman Warehouse on Thompson Lane in Murfreesboro. Not as good as online, but sometimes that’s not an option.

I've looked on ammo seek. But seems to be the majority is steel case ammo or ammo that seems like a good deal until I looked into it and it's either factory rejects or the reviews are terrible where people are buying 1000 ends and only having a few hundred actually function

Well sure…they will list junk ammo; some people buy that.

Put in your caliber, Put in Federal, put in HST and hit enter.

Look at those names on the left. Those aren’t sites trying to pass something off; a lot of the Big Boys are listed there.

It’s just one option to get you to some web sites. Personally I don’t think any of those ammo search sites keep up on the sales, but just use them as a starting point in addition to the sites you know you want to check. But yes, if you just put in your caliber, the first results are going to be steel case cheap ammo because its listing them by cost per round.

Try these....

Short Round Supply currently has Sellier & Bellot 115gr FMJ 9mm for 85.00 per 500.  Technically it is 8.5/box when you buy 10 or more boxes.

The Tulsa show is the largest show in the country. Been there once. It's something you have to see to believe, as for size. If you can't find it there, you probably don't need it, LOL.

Sorry, busy week.  Yes, at the National Guard Armory on Leeville Pike.

It looks like they pushed the Lebanon gun show to December.  When I first looked it said November 21-22 now it's telling me December sometime

I’ve actually never been to one at the Lebanon Expo Center.  Nice location, just never been to the gun show there.

It's a nice gun show for it's size, in one large room, nice restrooms, super nice facility. C&E Shows doesn't have one scheduled for the remainder of this yr. ( so far ).  RK shows has the next one in this area, in Lebanon, Dec. 21,22, 2019. The 'Boro show is bigger than the Lebanon show. I usually make both.

Had the RK show at 'Boro, it's in Lebanon.
