Poor Liberal daughter

Recommended Posts

My ultra liberal daughter was ranting about not having to go to class or shoot to get the new permit. She was hoping to draw me into lashing out like she was doing but all I could do was laugh at her histrionics. It's sad really so if you pray, please pray for her. Thanks

I can relate to some extent.  Daughter says nothing about my gun hobby, and goes to the range with me on occasion along with the grandson.  But everything else is 100% democrat, anti Trump, pro whoever is against Trump so we just don't discuss politics at all.  Wife can't figure out where she went wrong.  🤨

Same here. College ruined her views.

Mine had the opportunity for a free ride to college (me) but she wasn't willing to put forth the effort grade wise, so the free ride was no more.  Hind sight has regrets now.

Fortunately, all three of my kids are conservative although the middle kid was touch and go when Obama first ran for President. She converted when I asked her to identify which of Obama's policies that she agreed with after she stated that, "He speaks to me," and she couldn't name a single one.

I didn't try to force my political beliefs on them preferring that they form their own opinions, but I have always pointed out inane positions of any politician and explained why I think they are wrong. I then ask them which makes more sense so that they came to logical conclusions. Having spent a lot of time in different colleges, I also point out to my kids that someone is not always correct just because of a position, (like a professor), that they hold. It's kind of the belief that being educated does not mandate being smart anymore than being smart mandates being educated.
