These are fun to watch, especially if you like to bid. But being careful in your bidding is a very big thing. It's so very easy to overspend and get caught up in it all.

Yes experience speaking. lol

Went to an auction some years back. Gosh...thinking about how long ago it was. I know before my Cancer, so pre 2008 anyway.

But an auction for the collection of guns and knives from a gentleman in the Clarksville area.

Mollot? Does that ring a bell with anyone?

Well it was a 2 day auction. My late brother-in-law was buddies with the auctioneer, and worked it with him. But he wasn't allowed to bid himself. So guess who his proxy was. lol

I wore out my Discover card over the 2 days. Bought some good knives. Mostly AG Russel, and a few that just caught my eye.

Then there were the firearms! Biggest collection I had ever seen. All types you could imagine. From Black powder to then recent manufacture weapons. Pistols and rifles. Shooters and collectibles. It was dumbfounding to me. Something like 500+ firearms alone.

Auction went at a (no pun intended...it was true) a very rapid fire pace. I lost track of most of the ones I was really interested in, but did buy 6 WWII 1911 Commeratives; D-Day, Pearl Harbor, Iwo Jima, etc. Plus a couple of P38s at good prices. Actually, I spent less on the previous items than I did in bidding on the knives.

Thankfully, most of my purchases were for bil...Tad. We had a ball. Also big bill to pay. lol

Naturally, I had to fund it all. Then wait for repayment.

My point is twofold. 1) Know what you want beforehand. You can get attracted to shiny things easily. 2) Know you spending ability and stick to it!!!  Going overboard is painful.
