Where to eat, Gatlinburg edition.

Hi all. So my grandmother and one of my aunts are making a road trip to Gatlinburg. My wife and I were married in Gatlinburg, so Grandma has asked for restaurant recommendations.

I'mhappy to oblige, but there are two problems: 1. We were married there a couple of years before the fire, and I have no idea what's there now. 2. My memory is crap anyway.

So, what would you recommend to a couple of ladies looking for a good, no frills, meal? Please keep in mind that, in upper Midwestern Scandehoovian cuisine, butter is considered a spice and that if you really want to jazz up a meal and have the church basement ladies talking about you, you hold the pepper over the pan. (Don't actually add any though... That's just wasting good food dontchaknow...)

Couldn't tell you on Gatlinburg because you've probably been since I have and I live here lol.

But decent food in Pigeon Forge for a local like myself would be a Texas Roadhouse, the Old Mill or Huck Finns.

Depends on if the ladies want to embrace local cuisine ( which would be rare since that area is a sellout ) or if they are wanting to stick to what's familiar like home. Can't go wrong with a Cracker Barrel meal even though it's not near as good since the company went public.

Also matters how much they are willing/wanting to fork out for a meal. Some places you'll walk out hungry and broke where others will send you with a doggie bag.

Regardless I hope they have a great time :)

Prices are inflated because its gatlinburg. That said, good local places ... Howard's Steakhouse, Pancake Pantry (cash only!), The Park Grill, Best Italian Cafe, Donut Fryer, The Peddler, ...

Thanks everyone! I'll pass asking the recommendations. My wife and I had over real fancy meal there, she said it was at Cherokee Grill. I couldn't remember the place, but I think she's right. (And I'm not just saying that because I'm contractually obligated!)

Just got back from Pigeon Forge this weekend.  The Old Mill Pottery House Cafe and Grill (across the street from the Old Mill restaurant) is a great place to eat.  Also noticed the restaurant "Local Goat" had a full parking lot every time we drove by it.
