Can i shoot my handgun on my property in greene county?

Recommended Posts

I'm new to this site but i have tried finding information online and i can't find anything. Recently i have been shooting on my property and my neighbors seem to have a problem with it. I understand his concern because he does have cows around here. However, I am shooting on my own property it is not toward his fields or any houses. I am shooting back into the woods where there is a ridge and plenty of back stops. Is it legal for me to shoot? I am worried he will call the police because of me shooting. Is there anything they could do?

Call the department that would respond, or I even recommended you go in person and ask to talk to a Command Officer. Sure, if they think your shooting is reckless or disorderly, they can do something. That’s why you probably want to talk to a Command Officer before, instead of after, a situation occurs. Because your neighbor is complaining, more is involved than simply whether or not shooting is legal.

After you have the information about the legalities, you might want to have a sit down with your neighbor and see what can be worked out.

Unless they have passed a new law for the county you can legally discharge provided you are not within city limits. I have several gun buddies that have home ranges. But to make certain go talk to the planning commission or anyone at city hall. My concern would be the neighbor and what if anything can be worked out with him. And I would 2nd the backstop idea without something that can ricochet around.

Thanks everybody for your input. I have moved my targets father back into the woods and am shooting into a a big hill. There is no way for the bullets to leave my property now and i can be sure of it. But again thanks everyone for you help.

I would do what Dave TN said.  Additionally, have you spoken to your neighbor?  Ask him to come over and look at your range.
