Well before he became a 911 operator he was Cheatham County Deputy for 3 years so he has worked on both sides of it. He does have his moments of just getting up and saying I need a break and walking outside and the others cover for him while he is walking around clearing his head. He works 12 hours shift 8PM to 8 AM and he said the real crazies start about 11 PM and even without going outside he can tell you when it is a full moon...…..LOL. He said the calls that bother him the most is when a very young child calls and it's hard to keep them on the phone till help arrives. They keep wanting to hang up but he said he has developed techniques to keep them talking till he gets an all clear report from the responding help.

Seeing kids hurt is hard on even the most seasoned Officers. I’ve seen plenty of bad violent things committed by what people call “real criminals”, but I’ve never had a nightmare from them. I’ve had nightmares from things I saw traffic offenders do while working traffic; most involved kids.

BTW...12 hours is too long for a street cop or dispatcher to work. Its dangerous for everyone involved.

I agree on the hours but with the Virus they can't keep enough staff to answer the phones so they went from 8 to 12 until they can get some people back that went on 14 day quarantine!!!

Here's a real time event for you. My wife was at a downtown restaurant(on the patio) tonight and heard multiple gun shots. She and her friend along with another patron ran inside the restaurant and took shelter. I happened to be heading home on I40 at the same time and KPD forced all of us off the interstate. I could see a THP roadblock in the distance. From where it happened to where she was is only ~1,200 feet. I was proud of her for reacting rather than doing nothing.

It looks like it might be an officer involved shooting as THP was chasing an SUV down I40.

It's amazing how fact situations are almost always vastly different.

Years ago, in ILLannoy, I got caught up in a stock certificate counterfeiting sting operation with the FBI, and some real bad guys that were running that operation out of about a dozen cities.  When the bad guys found out I was involved, they started hanging out around my house, among other things.  Time after time, I would call the local cops and they would show up and the bad guys would leave.  It was a regular thing.   Then one time they showed up , and the cops were not available, for a long time.  The bad guys called my phone (which new number I had gotten only that day, but somehow they had it) and they said "Whatcha gonna do now?"

And I yelled, "Watch your 6 a**holes"  and charged around the house and up behind that car with my 12 gauge, screaming like a maniac.  They got the hell outta there at warp speed.

No, that wasn't the last of them, but I did get their license # , and the FBI paid them a visit and told them to NEVER show up around our house again, and they didn't.

There were other crazy repercussions, phone threats against my kids, even my dog! ---but they never showed up at my house again.   The local cops and the FBI agents were spectacular in the way they handled this months-long investigation.

Eventually It was a major multi-city bust.  When I was asked for my sentencing recommendation, I said, "Death penalty, maybe?"

Yeah, maybe it was nuts to charge out there that night, but I was ready to blast them.  It's amazing what adrenalin can do.

Would I advise anyone to do that?   NO!   But I was young and stupid.  Now I'm just old and stupid!

So that's my self-defense encounter story.

Everybody's a gangster until a maniac appears from the dark screaming with a shotgun. 🤣 it may not be super appropriate for the tone of the thread but I admit this mental image gave me a big chuckle.

I haven't checked out US Law Shield but will.

What I'm seeing with this shift in public insanity these days and no respect for the law and law enforcement, is innocent people being thrown under the bus to pacify the criminals, social warriors, protesters and rioters. I'm seeing more and more innocent people being charged for criminal assault just for even drawing their weapon to protect themselves.

Just the fact of being arrested and/or charged sticks with you. Without financial ruin, I couldn't hire a competent lawyer in the unlikely event I had to un-holster to defend. You have to ask yourself, where are these confrontational people and groups, protesters and threatening people doing the assaults getting lawyers from and how are they paying for it?

"You have to ask yourself, where are these confrontational people and groups, protesters and threatening people doing the assaults getting lawyers from and how are they paying for it?" They are getting the money from the same people that pay them to do what they do!!!! Do you honestly think that they do this stuff for free?? There are billionaires supporting these movements and they are profiting from all this trouble they are creating!!!

I doubt billionaires are paying the legal fees for any average criminals that are arrested. But… you don’t need an attorney if you aren’t charged by the DA.

And they aren't doing it for free, they are getting as much money as they can rob, or as much merchandise as they can carry. :)

There are special interests that have funds set up to pay people to protest and then bail them out. I have heard from very very reliable people that in the past protesters used to protest outside Y12 and would get arrested for getting a little to crazy. These protesters would then get bail posted, and lawyers would show up for them, all privately paid. Also, look into the pallets of bricks laying around New York, and Minneapolis when the riots were going on. Someone paid a whole lot of money to work out the logistics of getting large pallets of bricks out to these locations, and conveniently just before the riots began. It's anecdotal, but it also seemed suspicious to me that when the government had its shut down right around the big metoo marches all of the sudden the protesting stopped and when the government reopened these protests started back in again. I dont want to throw conspiracies around, but Its not all that farfetched that people will pay people to protest for special interests.

When you look at this with a microscope and you comb through the list of demands, on a high level, people are asking mainly for money. Underneath that though, if you follow the donations and look at what the movers and shakers want out of this the language and the actions point to Marxism. I think you even sent me that link to the blm webpage where BLM was stating their movement was centered around marxism. Antifa has roots in spreading marxism with acts of violence and subversion as well going back to the early 1900s in Europe. Your article is just one more rusty crooked Arrow pointing to the bottom of that same dark dingy well.

Look at this: https://nmaahc.si.edu/learn/talking-about-race/topics/whiteness

Looks like they edited out the little chart/graphic they had embedded in the article. It was pretty offensive... probably explains why it is gone. The chart itself made pretty much every aspect of western culture "whiteness"; individualism, ruggedness, nuclear family, etc all "whiteness" and "white identity".

People still have and are throwing it around. Looks like the cats put of the bag!

I run a suppressor on my house gun.

One of the reasons I have hearing protection at the bedside is not from a muzzle blast, it's from the standpoint of blocking out some of the noise from the sirens.    I have two internal and one external.     I'm of the opinion that it's best to keep the sirens going at least for a period of time.    One to alert neighbors, second to keep the intruders a little disoriented until I can react.   I've been inside when they're going off and it is quite painful.    So that's why I plan to not be so quick to silence the alarm until I know what's going on, hence the bedside hearing protection.   Your mileage may vary.

I've had 3 different encounters that could have resulted in violent self defense.

In Gatlinburg, 2 dudes loitering in front of bar, blocking the sidewalk.

Slowed down our stride, they started the conversation from greater than 6 feet; come on in, we're the doormen / catchers for the bar.

In Nashville #1, homeless looking dude approaching while in a hotel parking lot, hands up in the fence, began conversation with, "sorry buddy, can't help you."

He wasn't expecting that, immediately turned away and headed in another direction.

Nashville #2, standing in front of my hotel waiting on my group, aggressive panhandler needing $1.70 to complete his bus fare.

Fence up, "Sorry buddy, I can't help you."

He asked again, "it's only a buck seventy."

"Sorry buddy I can't help you."

Expression on his face indicated I may need to beat him down with my flashlight, key chain or with a quick pistol whipping.

In this scenario, it could have escalated from blunt weapons; however for SD, not everyone needs to be shot.

From paying attention while navigating unknown contacts, I've probably evaded more potential scenarios than I am aware of.

Does drawing on my Roomba count?

The first time I was young and unarmed. Guy started shooting at me near Foster Ave from the overpass walkway. I told myself I would never get in that situation again.

Second was on 17th Ave. I was around 30. A guy set up trouble and called it in. He knew someone would be coming to fix the issue soon. It was 2:00ish in the morning.  I knew instantly it was a setup, but nothing could get me. I was after all bullet proof and armed. I couldn't see anyone but I knew when it was coming due to the nature of my job. I moved my shirt over my gun making it visible. Police didn't go in that area back then so I said to my self "here we go". The guy came at my back right side. "Gun side". He was running full out at me and was on me faster than I thought possible. I hit him with the object in my arms while simultaneously pulling my gun. It was wet out and he hit the ground with 70 lbs of work related material on his chest. Safety off, 2.5 # on a 3.5 # trigger, and a Lazer on his forehead. I yelled at him " What the F%^k do you want ". He hauled ass and I finished the job and went home.

Third was when I was working near the truck stop on 1st st. This was around the time the trucker was killing prostitutes in Nashville so we were a bit more aware. I inadvertently interrupted a male prostitute with a John. The prostitute ran while the John wanted to fight. The prostitute tried yelled at him to "come on", but he wanted to " F me up". His mind was changed rather quickly.

Forth and funny. Coworker called and asked if I was out. It was around midnight and I was. A man in a truck was driving around him. The truck had a cage fashioned out of someones chain link fence. The guy started shining a flashlight at him and the guy was spooked. I got there and we found out someone had hired a toothless redneck to work security for a local company. I still make fun of my buddy's Deliverance experience.

There are more, but......

Their plan is coming together.

Their plan is coming together until  the owners of firearms have had a enough and decide it might be time to come out of the closet and let the anti-gunners see what they are really up against and see if they still have to stomach to push the envelope!!!.....JMHO

I haven't done the research here but, I'm going to make some assumptions on the character of these radicals and anti-American's; they're cowards and self centered. They've most likely never served in the military, Peace Corp, Scouts, etc. or did anything selfless for the interests of our country, their neighbor or their communities. They need a crowd, gang and/or support for their 'bravery'.

Just like cockroaches when they're forcefully confronted [think Koreans on roof tops], scatter to their damp dark abodes. Most likely they don't like hard labor to earn a living, don't want to improve themselves nor their communities or living environment; and have the entitlement mentality and socialist views [use owes me]. A rational and reasonable person would view their acts and deeds as evil.

This 'evil' and the tearing down of America is openly being coddled and condoned by many politicians and the major news media; and is not being seriously confronted by the silent majority or patriotic Americans. When will enough be enough???

Our Constitutional Republic is being destroyed one city, county and state at a time.
