Enough doom and gloom

A boxer dog named Dexter is going viral for leading his blind canine companion, Ginger, safely down a flight of stairs, according to a video.

The video showed Dexter using his body and the wall to safely guide Ginger down the stairs without falling. He patiently stopped on each step, waiting for Ginger to catch up before moving on to the next step.

The kind dog looked back repeatedly to reassure his companion, and both dogs began to wag their tails once they reached the bottom of the stairwell.

We currently have a Boxer. All you people saying they don't live long just need to shut your mouths. 😀

She is probably the best dog I have ever owned. Very smart, loving and playful. Never once even looked funny at the grand kids, no mater how much poking or pulling. But, be a stranger and she will puff up and growl and put herself between them and us.

We have a Dachshund too, who is suffering from severe doggie dementia (that is another story altogether) and the Boxer takes care of him just like in the video. She puts up with his crap, and is always gentle and kind with him. Sticks with him when he gets lost in the fenced in yard and guides him back to the house.

They are an awesome breed. I can't imagine owning any other kind of dog.

My good friend Bill Irwin is the only blind person to thru hike the entire Appalahcian trail. He did this with help from his guide dog. His dog had no training how to read trail markings but lead him the whole way. Bill and the dog have both passed on now but quite an inspiring story.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I never pick my dogs. They always either just show up or the find my wife and she brings them in.

Never had a bad dog....

We were walking through humane shelter and Ginger picked us. She wasn't even close to the type dog we "wanted". Best dog I've ever had. But then they've all been the best for that time in my life.

That my friend is the joy of dogs. Merry Christmas.

Some years back, after we had to put down our Chow, my wife went hunting for a new companion for me. She visited the shelters and picked up several.

Then one licked her face and peed on her sweater. That was it. She had claimed my wife. Molly came home with her that afternoon and has been with us for 12 years now.

They all do this...but Molly has eaten her way into my life and heart like none of our others have. Lying at my feet right now.

No greater love on this earth than that of a dog.

Loved my boxer who was with us for 11 years. Rescued new pup yesterday, because can’t be without one for too long. Appears to be a hound - looks a lot like a cur or one I had never heard of, Treeing Tennessee Brindle. She’s already made herself a part of the family.  Figured y’all would appreciate this here.
