We've been stimulated!

The difference is they probably paid taxes for that "welfare".

Probably, probably not.
I’m certain they’re happy that they have OMEGA to speak for them. Do you also have conservatorship over their welfare checks?

You can't have it both ways; you probably meant:  Maybe, Maybe Not.

I was surprised when we got them last time because of an inheritance in 2019 that I thought would put us over the limit, they must have used 2018 taxes. Gave most of it away to local food bank and bought gift cards from four of my favorite restaurants that if they survive I will use after they have recovered. So I probably will not get any stimulus this time, if I do I plan to spend them the same way I did the first time.

So far the 4 restaurants have survived and we try to get curbside often, but probably not often enough.

Not to worry. Anyone that's a productive member of society will eventually pay a lot more than $600 back in taxes. If they would only deal with Covid instead of throw all the pork into the bill it wouldn't bother me so much.

Covid is the pork thrown onto the yearly spending bill.

Everyone was getting upset about the millions that were given to other countries. I couldn't even bring myself to get mad about that. When we're talking about trillions then a few million is nothing. It really doesn't matter anymore.

There is some truth to that. This country is like the Titantic. We have already hit the iceberg. The Republicans are handing out buckets to bail out the water. The Democrats are drilling more holes in the hull of the ship to let the water run back out. Either way I fear we are going to go down.

Do the buckets have $2,000 in each of them?

Sure it matters. It isn't our biggest problem, but it is a problem all the same.

Do you know what the total was that designated as foreign aid?

The larger problem is the mindset of those who elect those who do it.

So, all of us? Both parties are guilty of this and both voted for it. Few of them even had time to read the 5,593 page bill.

  • "$500 million  earmarked for Israeli defense purchases, including to equip the Iron Dome missile defense system."-- which party do you think put that in there?

Quick google search and I few -not saying this is all.

  • $500 million  earmarked for Israeli defense purchases, including to equip the Iron Dome missile defense system.
  • $250 million over five years for Palestinian economic aid, which was pushed by New York Democratic Rep. Nita Lowey.
  • $10 million for “gender programs” in Pakistan
  • $1.3 billion is to remain available until Sept. 30, 2022, and should be made available for assistance for Egypt.

I'll round up to $2 billion.  That's .14% of the total $1.4T dollar spending bill.  So I'm sorry if I can't get too angry about this. You could eliminate all foreign aid it wouldn't even begin to address the issue.

Please notice the decimal. That's not 14%...

Yes, Erik. ALL of us are the problem. I'm not sure why you keep wanting to paint me as a Republican apologist. Most federal politicians should be hung in my opinion. Not just Democrats.

My mistake Greg. That wasn't my intention but I thought you were trying to suggest that only those who vote a certain way were guilty of this. I know you and I agree on the spending problem.

In a binary system you are usually forced to vote for dumb or dumber - or the lesser of two evils, if you prefer - and not voting because of your principles is a vote IMHO.
