I buy most of my bulk range ammo from Wideners. It's is a great place to buy ammo, as long as you know exactly what you want, and are willing to wait for them to get through the long line at the counter so you can tell the guys what you came to buy. And you can deal with dirty looks and shabby service if you look under the age of 40. They warm up when you hand them cash for a couple thousand rounds of ammo, but not much.

I think they're letting local orders pick up their orders on certain days of the week, but they're only accepting online orders right now due to volume. Something like a 1-2 week delay on shipping.

I agree with this assessment. But the part in bold is why I don't fool with them. Probably nice guys, but I went in twice and was treated poorly. There are plenty of other places to spend my money.

They've always done right by me, either over the internet or in person. They are, however, obviously designed, and prefer, to do business by means other than counter service.

You can fairly smell the culture in there.

Their Internet business is their main focus all the time, but the shop is mostly just there for the locals who shouldn't have to pay shipping charges when they live two miles down the road from the shop. As a result, yes, the Internet service is superb. Counter service? If you're over the age of 40 or so, you'll be treated fairly well. They've just got their own culture, and my generation is not part of it.

Most of the local guys my age who I've talked to will put up with the shoddy service because having the amount of ammo they want shipped from someplace like CTD will cost more than going to Wideners and paying sales tax after waiting in line and getting a couple of dirty looks.

I had good luck with them before the election with internet orders. I've had people tell me now it takes four to six weeks to get their orders and they charge your credit card when you place your order. That's not acceptable to me.

I have always been treated well at Wideners and have never seen them treat anyone different than me. it is great to have them near and not have to pay hazmat and shipping. They like everyone else didn't see the panic buying coming and I think they are doing the best they can.
