Local suggestions needed for barrel threading

Recommended Posts

  • 1 month later...

I dropped a barrel off at Red River Gun Works in Clarksville last week while I was there on business. I will pick it up when I am back there on Monday or Tuesday.

David is former military and it is a small business in his home. Works for the postal service otherwise. Very nice and communicative.  He is only open 9-12, but he let me drop the barrel off in the evening. I will post after I pick it up.

He charges $35 to cut and re-thread.

Big Shout Out For Red River Gun Works

So I picked up the barrel from David at Red River Gun Works in Clarksville. He did a superb job. Also for an additional $30 he put the barrel on the upper, mounted the free floating hand guard, and swapped the gas tube from one gas block to another and mounted it, and finally put the flash hider on.

All while I waited and we chatted about guns and such.

I am wondering as well. Or has anyone done it themselves.

looks like you need a 1/2” annular cutter with a .223 guide rod and then a 1/2x28 die to cut the threads.

I've attempted this method with success on more than one rimfire. I was hesitant at first, but I feel confident when using the guide rod. I seen where you listed someone in Clarksville that does threading. That's good to know, as I live in Dickson county.
