More than 100 Americans die every day from gun violence. This #GVSurvivorsWeek, we recognize survivors of gun violence & remember all those we have lost. We have a lot of work to do to make this country a safer place. I will do all I can to reduce deadly shootings & save lives.

I just heard this passed. Is that true? Can't find anything on whether it passed or not.

A guy I work with said he saw it online somewhere. I looked around online but, couldn't find anything.

This is exactly what I was talking about in the tires thread. The rumor mill is cranking out new material at an amazing rate the past few weeks. The bill hasn't even been voted on yet.

Well, if it were only a true compromise , but to the left, compromise means doing it their way...or else.  The whole "give them an inch, they will take a mile" saying should be our mantra when it comes to giving up our rights.

This seems like an appropriate time to repost this classic explanation from the Lawdog files on why there is no such thing as “compromise” with regards to gun rights. Never was, never will be.

And also in cartoon form for the crayon eaters.

It has always been us against them. Research where the wording for GCA of 1968 came from. The socialist/communist sector can only control an unarmed populace.

The problem is that no amount of "common sense" gun control will EVER be enough. Whatever "compromise" gun-rights folks are willing to make simply becomes the new normal and the anti-gunners begin again at that point. The progression is steadily against our right to keep and bear arms. I would LOVE to find a way to keep guns out of the hands of those who shouldn't have them, but the solutions the left champion infringe on the rights of the law-abiding. I think most of us agree that those who use guns in the commission of a crime should be punished to the full-extent of the law, but the left seems to want to protect criminals. It's frustrating!

I like to think that I am an optimist. With that said I also believe HR127 could very well pass and sooner than we think. Since Democrats are in total control and will do “what ever it takes” it’s a real possibility. Not an exact quote but close I heard on the news recently, “if you don’t get involved in politics you are destined to be governed by your inferiors”. Interesting  statement.

I don't think HR 127 has a snowball's chance in hell of passing.  What worries me about it is Democrats using it to pass other things.  "We are not asking for something radical like HR 127, we are proposing modest changes like AWB, ammo taxes, universal registration, etc" and the public may bite, especially if this comes on the heels of a mass shooting.  Ask for a mile, take 500 yards.

The intent of HR127 is to "To provide for the licensing of firearm and ammunition possession and the registration of firearms, and to prohibit the possession of certain ammunition". Universal registration/licensing of gun owners and their guns is a main part of the bill. I think a large number of US senators and reps do not view the bill as "radical". They view it as absolutely necessary "whatever it takes".  The democrats in the US House and Senate are pretty good as circling the wagons.

Right but it also includes requiring a psychological evaluation by who knows who to obtain an ownership license (with an expiration date) that must be carried whenever in possession of guns or ammo.   There is also 24 hours of training required including live fire to obtain the license.  The AG must be notified in writing when a gun or ammo is to be loaned to who, how long, etc.  That person also has to have the psych eval and license.  It requires a license holder to get a liability policy with an $800 fee (I assume annual cost).   It also establishes a database of firearms and owners that is available to the public.  Basically, any semi-auto handgun is banned.

These are not the things normally specified when Democrats are talking about “common sense” measures.
