Tell me about the ammo I bought

Bought this at an auction. Said 300 rounds of 7.62x51 ball L2A2 ammo. Any ideas on where it's from?

Well I thought it was British Radway Green. But it seems Garufa found the real answer. Didn't realize the Chinese counterfeited ammo.  But then again, all the Radway Green I've ever used was packed in 20 round cardboard boxes.  Well that just sucks.

Make sure you separate the bullets from the cases and burn off the powder.

I have a piece of equipment specially made to do that.

I'd be tempted to at least give it a try. Who knows, it might shoot just fine. 

With steel bullets and cases, I see no point in disassembling it except to just scrap it. I wouldn't bother to reload it.

It’ll probably shoot just fine. Just need to remember to really clean out your rifles really well (I use a hose, not kidding) after you shoot it. I’ve got a whole bunch of German corrosive ammo that I use with no problems.

Is it steel cased? It looks in the pic like brass but, probably copper washed steel.

Corroive ammo was all you used to be able to get, back in the day.  It probably  shoots fine.  You just have to be careful to clean your firearm extra well, after shooting it.

Good point. When I was dealing with my late friend's collection I found a fairly large supply of corrosive Korean .30-06 mil-surp ammo. Shockingly, I also found the bore of his M1 Garand was a rusty mess.  My guess is that he shot some of that ammo and forgot to clean the rifle. Thankfully, with a bit of elbow grease, the bore cleaned up just fine.

I've got a bunch of old mixed military that is most likely corrosive. I wouldn't shoot it in a M1.

Why not?  It was designed to shoot corrosive ammo just like the .45ACP.

Yeah, but we have better alternatives now. The soldiers in WW2 and Korea didn't. I would load 47.0-48.0 gr. IMR4895 or something similar behind a 150 gr.

This Korean stuff was made for the M1 Garand for use by the Korean Military. Even came packed in the standard 8 round clips.
