Speaking of price gouging....

$95 before shipping and hazmat fees for some CCI benchrest from Midway.
Even at that cost they were only in stock for a few moments before they were all sold.

No thank you. They can keep them a little longer.

Thanks to a tip from a buddy on the Henry rifle forum, I scored 4 lbs. IMR4198 on Hogdons' site. They sell direct to the public when they have some. I wasn't aware of this til yesterday. No idea

I was in Cookeville about 3 weeks ago and stopped in Outdoor Junction and they had some powders in stock. I am good on powder so I did not look it over to see what they had. I went to the gun room but

Rip Van Winkle in the house.  😄

I was at The Reloader's Bench in Mt Juliet, TN this morning and they had a lot of different powders (Hodgdon, Winchester, IMR, Accurate, Vectan and Vihtavuri).  They also had some Winchester #41 small rifle primers ($50/500..😬).

Did you see any IMR4895?

They did have several powders on the shelf but, I didn't see any IMR4895.  I like it too, so was looking for it and others I use. I did see a few IMR powders though.

Powder Valley had a large drop a bit ago. Thanks to them and Midway last week, I have a good amount on the way. It's not all exactly what I would normally pick (example grabbed a bunch of AA2300 to try out) but it will keep me set for a while.

Powder Valley has nothing but black powder

You have to be quick these days.

@Beltfed PV has a bunch of powder showing in stock as of 2:39PM. However you have to be logged into your account to see it.

Most places are this way now to try and keep some of the bots down.

This is horsechit! I am now completely out of IMR 4895. I have been looking for it for months. It has been available nowhere for no price.

Thanks for letting me vent.

A tip for those in the middle Tennessee area that don’t mind a bit of a drive. Midsouth Shooters Supply up in Clarksville has had powder in stock occasionally. If you go to their powder page they have an option along the side to filter by what’s in stock. Check it a couple times a day and you may just catch some in stock, but don’t dawdle or it might sell out (ask me how I know). Prices are higher than pre-2020 mess but not exorbitant.

You can also pick up at their store instead of shipping and having to pay the hazmat fee. They’re open till 5 during the week.

I finally found some at the Reloader’s Bench this morning. Inflation has definitely hit the reloading industry, but now I can go back to loading for the Garand.

They do have a limited selection of powder in case anyone else is looking.

A little update on my Hogdon post earlier. They over booked, got an email stating I would be getting none.

Piss poor way of allocating, IMO.

I may have seen some 4198 at the Reloader's Bench this morning. Might be worthwhile to give em a call.

Isn't that similar to a doctors office? They schedule 2 or more people for 9a.m., their time is valuable, but ours isn't!!

Midsouth keeps dropping powder now and then, didn't need it but picked up 2lbs of Shooters World Blackout to give it a try.  Keep checking, they even had some Varget, missed it by a sec.  Login first and check out quick or it will not be available if you try later.

I’ve seen airlines do that. Not a good business practice in my opinion.

No, it's not. And I was surprised Hogdon let that happen. It's very easy to avoid it. Some, maybe most, when you order, they set that quantity aside & put it on hold until they can fill that order. I know Midsouth has done this before. Why can't Hogdon?

Yes, doctors are notorious for that, the VA come to mind in Nashville.

I'll remember it tho.
