Biden will announce his gun control executive actions tomorrow

Who is David Chipman you might ask? Who is this man that Biden is going to nominate to lead the ATF?

He wants to ban the sale and manufacture of “assault weapons” forcing all current owners to register theirs under the NFA. He wants to eliminate all private sales. 😡

Currently he works for Gabby Giffords’ gun control group. He was a 25 year vet of the ATF. What did he do there?

A lot of this, a little of that. Served on the ATF’s SWAT team, worked on the Waco Branch Davidian trial. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

But you know, he’s a good guy. He occasionally conceal carries himself. 🙄

Somewhere out there is a meme about executive order abuse, regardless of which POTUS is doing it. A few of us have been complaining about this no matter who was in office and I recall being told to hush.  I wonder how quick these new E.O's will be challenged.

In addition, some of us decried the banning of bump stocks when it happened and warned that it was setting a very bad precedent but we were told to sit down. They shouldn’t have ever been approved in the first place. They were a toy. They had no real legitimate use.

When we said it wasn’t about the bump stocks, but the way it was done. No attention was paid.

Well, here we are.

Thanks, Donald!

Obviously the deaths of white men and women are not significant since they were the only group of victims not noted... even though they were the largest death toll in recent shootings.

So firearm stability and accuracy makes the public unsafe?.. uh.. ok.

Maybe they will spend all of our money chasing ghosts and not have enough left to persecute thoughtcriminals.

Maybe their push for jobs will be successful. Working a job is the best way to get someone off the streets. Probably what they will be offering is some green government job, but that's better than spending money on lawyers and prisons. I just hope they have enough jobs left for citizens after letting all the illegal immigrants in.

Bump stocks are idiotic and I would never own one, but I’m all for keeping them legal because it potentially adds another obstacle for gun grabbers to un-do before they get what they want.  However, I don’t see how banning them somehow paved the way for Joe and the hoe’s schemes.  I doubt they need some precedent to proceed with whatever they have planned.

Let me see:

The Justice Department, within 30 days, will issue a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of “ghost guns.”

Aint afraid of no ghosts; good luck trying to find these, and now that 3d printing of lowers have been proven, well, you get my point.

The Justice Department, within 60 days, will issue a proposed rule to make clear when a device marketed as a stabilizing brace effectively turns a pistol into a short-barreled rifle subject to the requirements of the National Firearms Act.

Hmm, I wonder what the disabled Americans will have to say about this one?  Would this fall under the American's with Disabilities Act??

The Justice Department, within 60 days, will publish model “red flag” legislation for states.

SCOTUS needs to weigh on this clear violation of the 2nd, 4th, and 14th amendment.

The Administration is investing in evidence-based community violence interventions.

They wouldn't acknowledge evidence that would show more LEO intervention lowers crime now would they?

The Justice Department, within 30 days, will issue a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of “ghost guns.” We are experiencing a growing problem: criminals are buying kits containing nearly all of the components and directions for finishing a firearm within as little as 30 minutes and using these firearms to commit crimes. When these firearms turn up at crime scenes, they often cannot be traced by law enforcement due to the lack of a serial number. The Justice Department will issue a proposed rule to help stop the proliferation of these firearms.

As someone on another forum pointed out, depending on how vaguely this is written it could cover a lot more than appears in the statement.

They are going to have to make sure the the issue of muzzleloaders not being considered a firearm is addressed.  I recently purchased a Pennsylvania long rifle kit from Dixie gun works that came fully assembled except for a couple of small items not attached. It could probably be fired straight out of the box. Most of the handgun kits from Dixie are the same.

The only reason I'm bringing this up is because of Cabela's new policy (from what I've heard) is that the same paperwork & background check has to be done for black powder guns as cartridge guns.  This could be the top of another slippery slope.

It was how it was done. By using executive orders to instruct the ATF to change their ruling and declare something that clearly did not meet the definition of a machine gun as a machine gun It’s set president to do that with nearly anything. It wasn’t action taken by rule of law, it was imperial fiat.

If you do not see how that relates to the executive actions taken today by President Biden, it’s because you’re choosing not to.

Well, the bumpstock issue has been slapped down, hopefully this one doesn't take as long.

That is a small temporary victory, but the battle is far from over.At the moment it seems to have been. That isn’t a done deal yet. That is a small temporary victory, but the battle is far from over.

Oh I have no doubt the Biden admin will cite such as precedent, but I don’t believe for one second that what is about to happen or be attempted would somehow not be possible without Trump’s actions.  They will do or try whatever they want with or without precedent.  Trump’s prior actions are irrelevant.

They aren’t irrelevant. But the excuses that gun owners continue to make for Republicans that take action harmful to our cause is the reason why lasting gun control has long been, and will continue to be enacted under Republican presidents.

Don’t get me wrong, I was unhappy about what Trump did, but I don’t think Biden’s announcements today would have been any different without the bump stock debacle.  I do tire of folks (not directed at you) who claim to be pro-2A, but supported a guy who is obviously after our guns over a guy who was a smartass on twitter and made what appears to be an uncalculated bonehead move against bump stocks, but was overall much friendlier to gun owners than the current regime.

You can tell when a politician is lying because his lips move:

It's an outright lie that gun manufacturer's cannot be sued. The PLCAA provides protection for gun manufacturers when their products are used by criminals, but certainly not if the firearm is defective or dangerous. The anti-gunners, like Biden and Harris, know that if the PLCAA is repealed it will do grievous harm to firearms manufactures. People with deep pockets like Bloomberg will happily finance suit after suit which, even if they are unsuccessful, will have the effect of destroying gun manufacturer's through the expense of legal defense.

Biden also made some scary statements about the 2nd Amendment.

"We should also ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines in this country," Biden said. He said "there's no reason" a person would need a weapon that can hold "100 rounds."

"We should also eliminate gun manufacturers from the immunity they receive from the Congress," Biden said, referring to the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), a law that prevents gunmakers from being sued for crimes committed with guns they sell legally.

"This is the only outfit that is exempt from being sued," he continued. "If I get one thing on my list... give me that one because I tell you what there would be a come to the Lord moment these folks would have real quickly."

Some of these orders affect me directly. Some people like to make comments about boating accidents.

I don’t have a boat, and I ain’t lost ####.

This can't be stated enough.   I haven't lost a thing.   I won't be giving up anything and I won't be going to jail.   Whatever happens from here is not decided by me but I will certainly be the one to decide how it is going to end.

This is more about paying back the donors than destroying the 2A, I think. The Attorney General in West Virginia is already threatening to sue. Joe has nothing to lose but "campaign funding".

And, when it comes to appointing an operator from the Waco massacre to be head of the ATF... I might watch some of the clips from that confirmation.

Does that mean you’re awake and paying attention to what’s going on instead of sleeping like it seems everybody with an R next to their name has done for the last four years?

That is how it works isn’t it? People seem to only care about the battle for the Second Amendment when a Democrat is in the White House.

As long as people continue to play their little partisan games, our rights will continue to die a death of 1000 cuts.

I don't have any blinders on, I am fully aware that every administration needs to be kept an eye on, on multiple fronts, but there is a reason we pay more attention when the socialists are in charge.  While we have had Republicans do harm to the 2A, I do believe they are not in the business to completely gut it.  These socialists have come out and said that the 2A needs to go away, and actively seek to do as much damage as they can anytime they can.
