NOVICE RELOADER

Recommended Posts

I'm a novice having only replicated my favorite 30-30 rounds. I have a silly question as I am about to start rolling .45 ACP. How many rounds would one get per pound of powder using 4-5 grains per round? approximately and provided we don't spill. you know, just a rough estimate so I know what to expect.

I load 4.5gr pushing a 230gr bullet. 7,000gr per pound. So 7,000/4.5 =1,555.5 reloads per pound.聽

THANKS much!!!

I had done the math but was afraid my grain to pound source was flawed. you just confirmed what I found. Good to know all that math I took works for something.

My load is 5 grains of Bullseye and 230 grain ball. 7000/5=1400. Pretty cool if you鈥檙e accustomed to loading high power rifle rounds.

You won鈥檛 need to trim or chamfer brass, but you will need to slightly bell the case mouth. With a carbide sizing die, you also won鈥檛 need to lube cases. You鈥檒l want to crimp slightly. More accurately, remove the bell.

Someone did the math, but the rule of thumb is 1k handgun loads per pound. You probably use twice as much of the same powder with 45 Colt verses 25, 32, or even 380.聽Obviously, there are a lot of factors with charge, caliber, and powder brand, but powder is the cheapest material when loading anyway.

somehow I missed this one. is that a preppers lot or an A.t.f'ers lot?

The ATF calls 100 rounds a stockpile. A prepper... well one probably stole that 7 million rounds in Mexico to top off his cache..聽馃ぃ

I burned two stockpiles on my last range trip.馃榿 Didn't pick up any brass as I don't have dies for 357 or 300...yet. Wish I had as I could have gifted the .300 BO to another member.
