Dunham sports has ammo/primers

Recommended Posts

Academy had small all types of primers on their website several days ago at Cookeville. But, it was wrong. I asked the guy at the counter about hem, when I couldn't find any. He looked at me like I was an alien, actually I get that a lot. He said they ain't had any in a long time. I said somebody needs to update website.

Where did all these reloaders come from?  I go to my local range and a lot of guys ask if I reload.  I say yes, and they give me their brass.  I’m looking at my primers with price tags from $19 to $31 per 1000 bought years ago.  We (reloaders) must be hoarding .  If the “shtf”, how long can one hold out.  Food, medical supplies, bad water, etc. will get us long before we run out of bullets.

Typically, it's not reloaders. It's people that know there is a shortage so they buy everything they can get their hands on, then turn around and post them for sale with a "slight" mark up. Personally, I wish everyone would refuse to buy from those people and they would be stuck with all the crap they bought.

And the problem would end just like that. (Snaps fingers)

According to the manufacturers, most primers being produced currently are going into loaded ammunition, leaving few for reloaders.  Before the last shortage, many manufacturers were running at reduced production, so more primers were available.  I'm sure what does make it to retailers gets snapped up quickly, and some are being resold, but the biggest problem with components is that ammo plants need as much as they can get right now.  Since many of these also make primers, they're using up all available capacity internally.  Don't forget that for most of the last year or so, Remington was shut down in bankruptcy, and of course the problems with Covid and related shipping/raw materials didn't help either.  Like always, they'll catch up eventually, but compared to similar episodes in the past, we're not all that far into the cycle yet ...

You are oh so right Photoguy, I will trade primers and powder or even give you some, but I refuse to buy from anyone that isn't a reloader.

Well Beltfed, with enough ammo you can hold out for quite awhile. I have always said I will let the other guys stockpile gold and silver, I will outlast them with beans and bullets, I am 1100 feet from Dale Hollow lake with more water than I think I will ever need and the means to purify it. I would rather have a stockpile of lead!!

Some guys at work used to say, Do you ever stock food and water ? All I hear you talk about is guns and ammo ! Your no preper.

My reply is  “I don’t need too, when that time comes I’ll just take yours !
