Traeger Help

Recommended Posts

Bought a new Traeger at Costco Friday afternoon. Had them for the grand opening. Seasoned it last night. Bought some burgers today. Gonna try them tomorrow. Bought the Cherry wood pellets since they won't normally carry them.
Any other things to try? Definitely want to try a brisket.

Definitely get the brisket at Costco if you buy one. So much cheaper than other places, and the full packer is “prime”. Pork shoulders and chicken wings are also good/easy.

Meatchurch bbq is a good resource for smoking and they have awesome rubs too.

Both Sportsmen's Warehouse in Murfreesboro and the Ace Hardware on Memorial carry the Traeger pellets in different wood types. I love smoking brisket, but I also love smoking ham and turkey in the smoker. With turkey I inject it with cherry wine. It turns out fantastic!

Traeger uses filler in their wood pellets.  If you can find them, Lumber Jack makes some great pellets.  The Char-Hickory is really good.  Royal Oak just came out with a new pellet made form charcoal and is not supposed to swell if they get damp.  So far the reviews have been good.

I have a Kamado Joe. I’ve smoked both a brisket and beef ribs. BY FAR the best was the beef ribs.  So don’t rule those jokers out! Pork Butt’s, burgers, salmon, steaks, wings, all that will be great on your grill. Enjoy!
