Howdy all... I am new to TN and this forum. Just looking for some advise and info here.

It doesn't seem that there is any way to list or search for an item in a particular region or area. Am I missing something?

Lumping everything into one giant pot category of Tennessee seems a bit clumsy and unorganized.

Also just curious about the volume of traffic on this site...

I haven't had any engagement on my listing in over a week & wondering if it due to lack of traffic, area I'm in, or maybe my price.

I'm in Atoka but willing to meet in Memphis so I would think I'm pitching to a fairly large audience.

I don't want to turn this into a listing so I'm not going to mention item or price... but I think my price is pretty fair.

Any and all input is greatly appreciated.

I don't know the exact demographics. I will leave it to the site admins to address that but the sites roots are in Middle TN and there certainly seems to be a bigger contingent here from the Middle and Eastern parts of the state than the west.

That said there are a couple things that are probably slowing response;

1) Seller - You are a new member with limited few posts and no feedback. Not anything specific against you but some established members are slow to deal with new members.

2) Item - Kel-tec shotguns are less than desirable to many. A fair number of folks, including myself, have had negative experiences with their offerings.

3) Location - Atoka is a bit "up the road" even for the Memphis/Bartlett/Cordova based folks. When I was still in Millington we considered Atoka "out in the sticks". Not that Millington was any great metropolis mind you.

Welcome, Good luck with your posting and don't let this first one discourage you from the site.

I hope you are asking in earnest and don't easily get offended.

Academy has the shotgun for sale you are selling for the same price new. We are a cheap bunch here. We like a deal. I've found that if I keep marking my price down, most items will eventually sell.

Being a new member makes some folk skeptical.

Requiring a bill of sale runs some folks off.

Your location is obviously a stumbling block for many.

I hope these suggestions might help in some way without offending.

Fixed it....................  😉

OP, there's generally 2-3 reasons when there's no response to an ad, IMO.

1) Odd or eclectic item. A Kel-Tec shotgun falls into both categories, IMO. These have been on the market for a while & the novelty has worn off.

2) Price. As mentioned, when one can buy new for the price of a used one, why buy used?

3) Personally, *I* have no issue with a bill of sale. Some folks require a carry permit in lieu of a bill of sale. Some (like me) don't give a rat's ass either way. Some would never think of buying or selling to a stranger. Everyone has their own thoughts on this process, so don't take it personal.

When pricing an item, look first on Gun Broker on completed auctions. This will give you an idea of current market value of an item. Make sure the ones you're comparing to are used, so apples to apples.

Generally speaking, a used item values around 75% of its new price. There'll be some exceptions, of course, there always are. But figure on taking a 25% hit if you bought it new.

Agree with most of what has been mentioned already. I have bought a few items on TGO, some at asking price and some with a private offer. When you say "firm" that means no offers. The distance can be taken care of by offering to ship at cost of shipping. Long guns do not have to be shipped to an FFL if seller and buyer are both in TN. One seller wasn't comfortable shipping direct to me and cut the price by what the FFL would cost me but that is all negotiable.

I happen to like the two Kel-Tec's I have, but most KT tend to be specialty guns so they have a smaller market.

Simply put, the west end is pretty much a dead zone for buying and selling. There just ain't much activity here. What does get bought and sold is mostly plastic handguns. Maybe a little ammo or reloading supplies. Business is just slow here.

Seems like every time somebody lists something I'm interested in, it plumb at the other end of the state.  🙁

Thanks for all of the input guys. I thought the region might be an issue. I wasn't really thinking about being a noob but I know that is an issue as well. I was well established on a forum when I was in GA... too bad I can't bring my cyber cred with me 🤣. As far as the price goes, I stand by it. I am aware that Academy is selling it for the same price but that's not with the $200 worth of add on's mine has. I do realize that only matters if someone actually wants/ digs those accessories, narrowing my audience even more. Again, thanks for the feedback. At least I know there are live people here 🙂.

If the feed back is open to non members there would not be an issue to post a link to your feed back on the GA forum.

So offer the firearm without the add on’s, sell the add on’s in the Gear area of this forum.

Welcome to the forum!

Hate to break it to ya, but add-ons never add to the value unless it's something such as name brand night sights. Rails, iron sights, etc don't add to the value on a used gun, long or short.

Most guys I know will strip a gun down to factory spec & then sell the gee gaws separately. May or may not be an option for you?

The Memphis or Jackson gun shows may be another option for you as well?

Also, reply to your own add every now and then with a "Bump" to bring it back to the top.  I rarely go through the classified listings, I usually just hit the "Unread Content".  I remember seeing your add but had forgotten about it.  I found it again, but it took me 4 pages to find it.  Just an idea to keep it in front of people, so they don't forget about it like me.

Guns are like hot rods. You can sink a fortune in upgrades and add ons, but it means nothing when its time to sell.  🙄

Stock always sells best. Everybody has a different idea of “perfect”.

And again, this is almost always true with cars as well
