What's your muzzleloader setup this season?

Recommended Posts

I got a CVA Staghorn .50 caliber with a Simmons  3x-9x 32mm that was a real dog on everything else but, worked good on this rifle. Go figure? I've had it for 20 years or so. But, I'm leaning on using my H&R Huntsman .58 caliber. It needed some work earlier, and I got it all fixed. I've not shot it in a long time but, am going to try it in a few days hopefully.

CVA Optima V2 running Blackhorn 209 powder, Federal shotshell primers, and 250 gr Hornady SST.

Oh, I didn't even mention my loads. In the Staghorn I've had good luck with 350 gr. Maxi-Hunters, using Triple 7 and 209 primers.  And in the Huntsman I'm gonna try round balls and Triple 7.

CVA Wolf 50 cal. Two 50 grain 777 pellets, Win 209 primer, and a 295 grain Powerbelt bullet. Topped with an M8, 4x Leupold in CVA rings.

Years ago, WalMart had this rifle on sale after season for a song. On a lark, I thought I’d give it a try. Since then it’s taken more deer than everything else I own…and that includes truck bumpers!😄
