Baldwin shoots two on movie set, accidental misfire???

Recommended Posts

"Live round" in the case of movie making usually refers to blank round I'm learning.

Semi autos need a restricter with small hole. This is welded or screwed into the barrel to function the action for multiple shots with blanks. Some of these guns are purpose built to only use special blanks and do not accept real ammo according to a few YouTube vids out there.

Revolvers need no resriction disc in the barrel when using blanks and lots of pressure is released out the barrel. Enough to propel a lodged bullet or other foreign object out of the barrel with lethal force.

I would hope part of the safety protocol on set would be to run a rod down the barrel prior to a fake gunfight? As an actor I would personally want to educate myself on all this even if I was anti-gun. To trust someone else just seems stupid.

If a real round was in this revolver for some unknown reason, basic safety and knowledge on actors part could have prevented this as well.

Perhaps as stupid as it is these actors are trained to let the "experts" do their jobs with the weapons and not to interfere. Hell with that!

Bob hands me a gun and tells me it's unloaded.

John tells me to point the gun at someone and pull the trigger.

Steve tells me it's a fake gun.

I do what I'm told and kill some one.

I'm pretty sure I'd spend the night in jail.

But you're not loved by a nation of pod munchers for your Trump impersonations. We know he didn't mean it.

Not if you were a paid actor and John and Steve were in charge of handing you a safe prop gun. With the limited info released so far other than being stupidly naive about danger and failing to educate yourself about tools of your trade.....No charges because you followed the minimum weak requirements set out by the film industry apparently.

As more comes to light, if corners were indeed cut because of Union squabbles etc., Baldwin being more than just an actor in this production may very well face some charges.

It's hard as a person familiar with shooting firearms to put yourself in the shoes of an idiot actor who has no clue about guns except movies.

Dislike the man but won't judge him just yet.

So if I'm making a movie and knock up a porn star, I don't have to pay child support?

Not if you're a famous Trump-hater. Then you'd get a get-out-of-jail-free card while some underling gets hung with the blame.

Let's blame John in your case.........................    😉

Not at all, he's getting judged. HE is the Producer, responsible for hiring the set armorer. Stories coming out have the female armorer claiming she wasn't "comfortable" with her ability to do her job. Most likely Baldwin hired her on the cheap & as well as an affirmation action hire. He ignored the BEST person for the job, IMO. (Whomever that person may be, I don't know.) He wanted to SAVE money & he did so by hiring the cheapest help he could find. (This would be like hiring me to build a skyscraper. Suicide.)

Stories also have come out saying both Baldwin & some of the crew had been shooting the gun with live ammo off the set, playing around (as we all do). Stories have also said crew members have quit over the lack of following safety rules on the set. This shows a pattern of bad behavior, IMO.

Obviously you can judge or not, this is America after all. But like the captain of a naval vessel, HE was in charge of the set. But he'll wiggle out of it, sure as hell.

When all this gets confirmed then yes, on that level he should be found guilty. On the actor level...stupid YES but no charges will be found against him.

I think he will end up being charge with something. He is not just going to walk! Right now he has a lot of people watching Hollywood and all of Tinsel Town to see where they stand on the issue. I pretty much think I know where Local 44 stands on it. If he walks away without anything being charged against him it will put a black cloud over Hollywood every time they try to make a movie involving firearms people will remember this!!!......JMHO

I think you are being way too optimistic.  If Hollywood turns on Baldwin, it sets a precedent that will bite the rest of them later.  They will blame this on the gun culture.  They will blame it on the armorer and the gun and will use it as a self-righteous call to action against guns in general.  It'll be about everything but personal accountability and we will all pay for it, as usual.

In this case, it may not be Hollywood's call. If he's charged criminally in New Mexico, Hollywood could have very little say. Of course, New Mexico is another one of those blue utopias. So, personal accountability probably isn't on the top of their list.

Baldwin will likely walk on criminal charges, but the resulting civil lawsuits might ruin him. At least I hope so. 😉

I don't think the Hollywood crowd is going to support him. What with all the talk about unsafe practices on the set and Baldwin know to be an azz in general. Much of the stories I've seen have been pointing out how wrong this was. Several actors and the media have stressed the mistakes that led up to this unfortunate event. Baldwin may just find himself alone.

Totally, blood in the water. Fam comes out in support before their trained shark is let loose. I normally dont support outrageous lawsuits, but this one seems to have such clear liability. No reason not to get a big settlement.

Well this is making the rounds today. I hope it doesnt on too political for some, but then again, as pointed out, the gun culture aspect mention and how this is going to go down is.

Was listening to Sean Hannity today & he read a story that says the Assistant Director (I think) took the revolver off a cart, handed it to Baldwin & said, "Here, it's a cold gun."

Noted was the female armorer was NO WHERE to be mentioned during this transfer nor is anyone other than the armorer supposed to be touching the firearms.

Bad juju all around, IMO.

This whole thing comes from being to cheap to hire   professional people. They had people working on the movie set that didn't have a clue about just how dangerous being stupid can be. That is probably why the first crew quit and walked off the site and they panicked and rush to bring in another local crew in and it was shortly after that Alec fire the fatal shot. The female Armorer even admitted she didn't know if she had enough experience to do the job and they hired her anyway..........🤢
