New User PM Prevention

I know that this is done to prevent spamming and someone from coming on and creating messages and problems.   But like myself, I really want to get in contact with a user about a gun they have for sale.   But I'm stuck having to create posts like this to get my count up so I can.  :(.  Really hate creating junk posts.  Any thoughts on adding another method or, maybe make it limited to time as well.   I created my account a few months ago, and just started looking for a new gun and ended up back on here.   Maybe 3 months and it automatically goes away as well?

What we advise is that you make a post in the thread asking for a PM from the seller. If they wish to respond, they will. 

Also, actually engage legitimately with your posting as the moderation staff takes a dim view of junk posts that are obviously just trying to up a post count above the required threshold. 

We regret the inconvenience, but it the way it is.

I am 99.9% sure people that pay for the benefactor membership can bypass this restriction. It’s only money and it supports the site.

Yup, pony up the $35 (assuming it's still that price) for a membership and you'll get the secret handshake, the double top secret code words and lots of other perks like the cool kids have ...

I was looking for the benefactors page and didn't see that, if so, that makes sense.
