10mm powder

Recommended Posts

There are several powders that work equally as well for 10mm and .40S&W-

I use Alliant 2400 and Bullseye-

And also, Hodgen HP38-

But there are other powders that work as well-

The 2400 I use strictly in 10mm-

Choosing which powder to use would depend a lot on the intended load-bullet weight-and powder on hand-

Target or hunting load-protection or 4- or 2-legged varmint-

Powder manufacturers do not build a powder to a specific cartridge.  The broader the range the more powder they sell.  Many powders are available to 10mm as seen above.  Do your research and testing, you will find a powder that you like.

Thanks everyone. I want to try and load it very light t at first like I do 9mm and 45. Then work up to maybe a medium. All my reloading's are mainly for target fun. For hunting I will stick with Underwood's game loads. I'm going to try to take a deer this year with my Glock 20. And maybe get some wild pigs later. The area I hunt is very thick and grown up with shrubs and all kinds of mess. My mother-in-law hasn't had the area bush-hogged in several years and it's so thick now I can barely get a straight line of sight for a good 100 feet. So most hunting will be close-up.

Depending on what projectiles you're using I could share some data.

Do you have any suggestions on what kind for powder for a 10mm using 180 and 200 grain XTP’s on the “hotter”side? I bought some CCI Blazer Brass ammo 180 grain and they do not seem to be snappy. I read that most of the 10mm target loads are loaded on the “light” side.I’d just like to have some ammo with a little more punch to it.

I have a Glock 20 with a Lone Wolf barrel, and also the stock barrel.
I may  pick up some Longshot powder. I have several other kinds too already.

Any help is appreciated.

Jeff

Blue Dot powder.
If it’s a real dry day, don’t be in the brush ! Lol.
This is a Glock 29 loaded with blue dot and a gas checked lead cast bullet. Picture was a frame from a video of my buddy shooting my 29.

Google your load date and work up for safety. Check several sources too.

‘There are better powders out there now, but BD was well known for its flash. The picture is the proof.

Be safe, go slow and always work up your loads.

10mm powder.?  Man I don't think my RCBS powder measure can throw grains that big.

Seriously, would think any of the Hodgdon or Winnie powders suggested for 40 SW should work fine

CFE Pistol, HP38 or Titegroup should all work well.  I use CFE Pistol in 9mm, 38/357 and 45 acp

Titegroup lasts longer per pound though and well...groups TITE.

I don’t mean to be obtuse, but look in your reloading manual, then see what listed in there your local store has available. A man can’t be too choosy these days.

Yeah , l know what you mean on being choosy. I got plenty of different powder for it , but wanted some for higher FPS. So I got some Longshot , hadn’t used any of it before.
