Gun safe in Knoxville

Recommended Posts

When I bought my Champion safe, I had stopped at Rural King to check out their safes first.

My Champion is a 48 gun I think. Rural King had a 60 gun that was quite a bit bigger for the same price.

I mentioned it to the Champion guy, and he showed me an ad for the Rural King safe. That 60 gun safe weighed less than the Champion 48. He said they use cheap Chinese steel.

If it's bigger and cheaper, there's a reason. The question you have to ask is "does that matter to me?"

Some of the big box retailers have good safes alongside the thinner/lighter/cheaper ones. TSC for example sells cheap Cannon and Winchester (Chinese made) safes along with more expensive models from Liberty (USA made).

I have a Winchester from Tractor Supply from when I lived in a state that I didn't need a very big safe. It is not real heavy and not fire proof but it did the job. I moved it and it is now the bedroom safe for guns that I want close by. After the move I bought a Liberty Fat Boy. I chose a dealer that had a couple of employees that did delivery after hours as a side business because there was no way I could get it home and in place. Was worth the extra money both for the quality of the safe and getting it delivered. I actually looked at the big Canon safes at Tractor Supply (bigger and less money) and they said they would load it on my truck but then I was on my own.
