Remington 1100 barrel extension Mod

Recommended Posts

I posted this elsewhere also on the site. My Remington 1100 20 gauge is slinging the hulls too far. They get under the leaves and I loose a lot of them. The trap barrels have a knock down pin that deflects the empties down toward your feet. Some people have modified the non-trap barrels to do the same thing. I reload, so it's important to recover all of my hulls for reloading. Has anyone done this mod? Does anyone have a trap barrel, with the pin in it, that could take a pic of the inside of the barrel extension and post it? Measurements for the location is critical. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Seems like a duct tape & cardboard solution.

Fabricate your own deflector 'flap' to angle your flying shells back towards your feet.

I think replacing your current barrel with a trap barrel would be a less costly option than drilling & soldering in a stub. It would only take a tiny misalignment or incorrectly sizing the stub to cause you some feeding issues.

Yes, the duct tape - cardboard solution may be the best solution for now.

The noted gunsmith, that used to make these barrel extension mods, mentioned the possibility of a "JB Weld" bump inside the barrel extension, similar to the ones in the trap barrels. If I could get the precise placement location, I might give it a try.

Thanks for your reply.

I need to be able to fire all three shells in succession. I'm not a trap shooter, I'm a hunter. I have fashioned a "deflector" out of thin plastic, that will be held in place with Gorilla tape. Haven't tried it yet, but hope it works. Thanks for your post.
