S&W M&P optics ready install question

Recommended Posts

That looks like a roll pin for the extractor. Can you tap it flush?  It should then be all but flush on the underside of slide. If it is sticking out on the bottom when flush on top, it may be too long for the optic cut. But my guess is it will be flush at the bottom once flush at the top.

Thanks.  Done.  Seems OK now

Be sure it's not sticking out on either side at all, if it is, a small touch job with a dremel and grinding tool should suffice without damaging the pin, may have to smooth edges a little if you're heavy handed. I've had to do the same for a friend who purchased one for IDPA, and they installed the wrong pin, it stuck out a little on the underside when an optic or cover plate was installed, and caused a few issues, another thing to be on the look for is if your optic mounting holes penetrate into a channel anywhere, such as the rod that provides ejector pin pressure. (Never had that specific issue with an M&P, but have had a couple glock slides, both OEM and aftermarket, that have given this issue which causes feeding, ejecting, and extraction issues.)
