⚠️ Safety Reminder for Buyers and Sellers ⚠️

This is an automatic reply meant to protect you as a buyer and a seller on TGO.

  • Use the Buyer/Seller Feedback feature to research who you are dealing with.   Please come back and leave feedback for each other after the transaction is complete.  Your experience will help others.

  • Never agree to use an electronic form of payment to buy or sell a gun!  None of the electronic payment services will protect you against fraud in a firearms transaction.  They all have terms of service FORBIDDING the use of their services to buy/sell guns.  DON'T DO IT.

  • Be very wary of anyone who insists on brokering a deal in private or outside of TGO.  Scammers almost always prefer to operate out of the public eye.

May not be a good answer but if you don't find a willing person in your area you can setup your own small sandblaster relatively on the cheap. They make a small hand held unit that works pretty good for small jobs, a bunch of them are available on Amazon and at Harbor Freight for $25-50. I have one that I have used for years. The expensive part is an air compressor to run it. To get a compressor to run even a small sandblaster gun continuous can be expensive but smaller units with a storage tank can run for short times than wait for pressure to build. You can make an auxiliary tank out of an old propane tank to run in series with the tank on the compressor to get longer run times. The bigger tank lets you blast longer but you wait longer to start again, so get as big a compressor as your budget allows. Used compressors are another option.

Appreciate the help. Do you think I need a sand blasting cabinet?

Or can I do this in the back yard and not worry about the aluminum oxide hurting my dogs on the back yard?

I usually just go outside. There are many kinds of blasting media and you may want to try a few to get the finish you want. Crushed walnut shells is one if the more gentle. One advantage to a cabinet over outside is it captures the media for reuse and you don't have to wear face protection while blasting which is usually and over the head hood which can be hot in the summer time.

Harbor Freight sells a small bench-top cabinet. I have their floor-standing model, and with a few mods it works great for my purposes, which is primarily auto and motorcycle work.

I'd be happy to let you use my cabinet, but it's much too far from your location. If you're coming through, though.......
