Hello everybody

Recommended Posts

I just moved to lauderdale county from Florida . I’m trying to find a clear answer on whether I can shoot on my own property? I live out of city limits. I plan on having a berm of course there’s neighbors but there 100yds minimum away and there’s nothing but trees behind the property

As far as state law goes, you're good if you're shooting more than 50 yards from a public roadway.  As others have advised, check with your sheriff about any county ordinances regulating shooting.  I doubt there are any.  Lauderdale County seems to rank pretty low on the list of government oppression.

Cheers,

Only thing to add is unless you already know your neighbors you may want to restrict how much you shoot really loud guns, 100 yards of woods doesn't deaden the noise much. I have a backyard range and have never had a complaint but I don't shoot early in the morning and anything bigger than 9mm I try to restrict the amount I shoot at any given time. I have invited several neighbors to join me and a one has a couple of times. I'm on a 1/2 mile dead end road and I know of at least 3 other ranges. Most everyone on the road shoot so that helps too.
