You misunderstand my point.   I can see why it was taken that way.   Both sides MUST agree to honest and open discussion. Not debate.  Discussion.   Progress towards a common goal cannot happen without that.  And currently, no one is willing to have a discussion.  Politicians are more interested in remaining in office, while their constituents are too busy demonizing one another.

I’m afraid that you’ve misread the room. There are few concerned with the greater good when it comes to the precious (guns).

Secondly, you don’t have to concern yourself with what others think about you having compassion and empathy for an issue that affects the entire country.

The older people in charge currently hold all the cards, but change is inevitable. Instead of engaging and working on equitable solutions, they prefer to keep their feet on the necks of those who hold opposing views. This country will inevitably become everything old men fear, and the citizenry will rejoice.

Legally, we're in far less danger of being disarmed than at any time since the post revolutionary war period.  These are salad days for gun owners unless you're fixated on full auto.

This!  Yet we have those who panic and see confiscation behind every bush.

But what exactly have they got to offer us in return?

What’s more precious than a life saved?

Exactly, if the SRO tries to clown or joke around with kids and they refuse to participate because they are told “all cops are bad” at home, whose fault is that?

A kid doesn’t have to be told at home that a cop is bad. All one has to do is witness the actions of certain cops.

Which gun control scheme will save lives?

Then I guess you also believe that a kid doesn't have to be told at home that a black man is bad.  All one has to do is witness the actions of certain black men.

Luckily no conservative gun owners are also affected.  Magic bullets?

and let’s not forget Blacks, Hispanics, white’s, Asians and anyone other ethnic group.  Should be we discuss percentages of who may hurt you per racial capita to be fair?

Some may not like this, but stereotypes exist for a reason.

Is anyone justified in concluding that all cops are bad because of the misdeeds of a few cops?

1. If anyone had an answer we wouldn’t be revisiting this discussion after every mass shooting event. Don’t expect a solution from a retired civil servant. It’s above my pay grade!

2. I’ll amend  @Hozzie response to answer your second question.

“Some may not like this, but SOME stereotypes exist for a reason.”

It appears you MAY self identify too closely as a conservative gun owner as opposed to being a human being first. My statement encompasses all people regardless of ethnicity, religion or political affiliation.  That’s who’s being killed by guns.

Secondly, you may discuss whatever topics you choose.  If I have something to add to your discussion or a different opinion on your subject matter, I’ll address it at that time.

I don’t identify anything other than someone with an opinion.  Certainly not a conservative as you would define it.

Lives are lost to whackos like the girl who shot up the school, none were GIVEN. The victims aren't us and them.

The anti-gun side isn't offering their lives in exchange for us giving up guns.

I think you nailed how liberals think. They judge all cops by the actions of a few or all conservatives by the ideals they disagree with then demand everyone else be evaluated as individuals. It's intellectual laziness on their part is what it is.

You implied you knew of a solution with your response to grayfox.  So I ask again, which of their proposals will save lives?

Go ahead and enlighten us with your "equitable solutions". You keep eluding to the problem being the fault of us pro-2A old farts who won't compromise. Compromise on what? What greater good is served by decent law-abiding people giving up their guns? So please forgive us idiots for seeing confiscation behind every bush. We've learned that we clearly can't trust people who think like you to preserve our rights.

Asking about lost lives is implying I have a solution to gun violence?

Dude, admit to yourself that you will never agree with anything I say concerning this matter. Save yourself a little aggravation. As per your request, idiots are forgiven!

I freely admit that I'll never agree with any of your anti-gun rhetoric or your trifling jabs at older forum members and name-calling. Maybe you should just block me, if you can't control your temper.

Temper?😂  Where have I displayed a temper in this thread?  Maybe you don’t like the way that I express myself, but that’s your issue brother.  I’m an older forum member. When I speak of old men, I include myself in that demographic.

I’m optimistic about the future, and I believe that future depends upon young people not old men.

That exact scenario was parked in front of Pulse Nightclub in Orlando.

I was referring to schools only.  I don't know anything about the Pulse shooting, or the surroundings there.
