Wives, Daughters, Girlfriends Should Always Carry

Some may call this post "social media trash" but the reality is that attacks like this are increasing rapidly & women & the elderly are more vulnerable.

I encourage anyone to invest the time & resources to get equipment & training for the women in their lives IF they want to get their CCW.

Yes, there should be no doubt, things are NOT normal, are NOT returning to "normal" anytime soon, and in this case, the trend is a downhill slope, leading to a cliff.  Hell in a hand-basket seems a good analogy...

My daughter is a nurse at a Hospital in Nashville and works all kind of shifts. She is also a very good shot with a pistol and practices when they can afford a few bucks for ammo. She has considered getting her carry permit but she would not be able to carry at work as it is a gun free zone in the hospital. She would have to leave the gun in the car so she won't do that. The hospital has their own security force and if a nurse or doctor wants to go to the vehicle in the parking garage the front desk has Security come and escort them to the vehicle and waits till they are inside with doors locked. I have offered to buy he a small taser but she declined.

Violence be gets violence, does not matter "how" it started, there are ways to handle what ever it is. Sticks and stones break bones and words will not. All to often words will start a fight that in these day and times someone will get killed over "words"

I fall back on a MOM and DAD stand a better chance of raising a good person.

I wish we lived in a world where all you needed was the Golden Rule, but those days are in the rear view mirror, I'm sorry, but that's the way it is. 70% of moms and dads have abdicated their parenting responsibilities and let the wolves the government raise them...

(and shoot, come to think of it, WOLVES might have done a better job!)

Sadly, I think you've said it very well. Those standing by and not accepting the reality of our life and times are just not looking...anywhere.

Doug, all you can do is try. I commend you for that. But some just don't want the responsibility, or the cautionary fear that should go with carrying ANY sort of weapon or safety device. It's a choice that we cannot make for them, or force upon them. Each must decide for themselves. At least your daughter seems to understand this.

My wife is a retired nurse and has seen things like your daughter has. Again, all she could rely on were the guards to walk them out for protection. During once time frame at Vanderbilt(both at an on campus  and off campus facilites) the guards were escorting INTO the buildings. Staff was encouraged to call when they had parked, and not exit their vehicle until security arrived.

Oh, the times we live in are a changin'.

I believe that the main issue is there are far to many broken homes with just 1 parent trying to do both jobs or children born out of wedlock. The parent is to busy trying to work and put food on the table and a roof over their heads so discipline is almost non existent. Also to many FEAD BEAT DADS not doing their part also IMO!!

What if she had just....I don't know....shot several 6 year old kids at a school nearby?

Well then, we would be talking about three more dead or injured thugs on the street to go along with the 6yo kids then wouldn't we?  Instead we are discussing a video where some young lady was set upon by lowlifes.

She could also be a lowlife.

I remember seeing a video where a guy was beating on a woman. Everyone was angry. Later, an extended video came out showing the woman was the aggressor and he was defending himself. I don't believe the line that a woman should never be hit.

We simply don't have enough info from this video to know the full story but I'm pretty sure that had she defended herself with a gun, she might be looking at jail time.

“…..should always carry.”

nope.  Some shouldn’t even own a gun, much less carry it.  Everyone should be interested in their own protection and take some precautions and have some level of training with their preferred method.  But I’ll never tell someone that they don’t do enough because they don’t carry.

All kinds of fantasies and possibilities could explain the situation, but what you saw was 47 seconds of a person trying to extricate themselves from a situation and multiple criminals committing assault, battery, and possibly aggravated assault (the slam by a larger male).

It's not supposed to matter if she got herself into that mess. It's clearly over and she poses zero threat. I don't see how what happened before has any bearing on where the video picked up.

My late wife had several guns and could shoot pretty well. However, she never wanted to carry. That feisty little Italian girl was the first to admit that she was too hot tempered to be carrying a gun. OTOH, I feel sorry for the idiot that dared mess with her. 😵
