Holster at a Gun Show

Recommended Posts

How do you go about getting a kydex holster made for a handgun at a gun show? They have to zip tie it at the door, but it obviously can't be zip tied to have a holster made, so does the guy making it cut it, make the holster, and then zip tie it again? I just haven't gone through this process before and have no clue. Any comment helps!!

I think they overestimate the power of their zip ties myself.聽 馃槅聽I've seen more than one person customer cut the zip tie to let a prospective buyer inspect a gun they brought to sell. I'm sure they don't like it, but you could always bring your own zip tie to replace it, if you're worried they might kick you out.

Speaking of zip ties, I was looking at a pistol at a booth at a gun show. A teenager was keeping an eye on the booth for a few minutes while his dad checked out the competition. While I was waiting for him to return to buy a pistol an elderly gent, likely in his late 70's, wanted to look at a gorgeous old Colt revolver in mint condition, but was frustrated that it was zip tied to a security ring in the table. The kid said he'd cut it off of there for him and turned to get some small side cutters, before he could turn back around the old guy had slid the blade of his pocket knife under the zip tie. He was kind of shaky and fumbling and I knew what was gonna happen so I asked him to wait, so he didn't scratch up the gun. Too late, he cut it by prying the spine of his blade on the side of the revolver and sure enough left a huge, ugly gouge in the metal. I said, sorry, I tried to stop him, but the kid was almost in tears. He pointed out the big scratch to the guy and said "my dad is gonna kill me for this", but the elderly guy and his wife just left.聽The kid was losing his mind, so I waited to tell his dad what happened and pointed out the man, now way down the row of booths. I didn't stay to see what happened, but I doubt they got any justice from the ordeal. I'll never forget that, felt so sorry for them.聽

That just goes to show that some who age get wiser, and some just stay plum stupid no matter what their age is. I'm glad you stuck around to explain what happened to the kids father. He should have walked down there and kicked him square in the ass for doing that.
