Ranger Green Effectiveness

Recommended Posts

I'm putting together equipment with the end goal of run n guns, SHTF, preparedness, etc. Probably a lot of the same reasons as most of the people here.
I only have a belt setup and it's all ranger green because, at the time, I just thought it looked cool.  Now that I've learned a "bit" more, I'm wondering though if I should go to multicam as I acquire more nylon.

TLDR:
-For our area (mid-TN), Ranger green vs multicam effectiveness?

Followup: What's the validity of people saying "Don't go multicam because you don't want to look military"?

I normally run camo or green. It depends on what you're doing an when. Black at night is a really bad idea. Any single color at night really is. Anything that breaks up you silhouette works to a degree.

If you've got a belt setup already I wouldn't spend the money to change it.  The belt is probably the least visible piece of nylon you're going to have.  I went RG for my plate carriers/chest rigs as they seemed less militaristic.  If I had to go back and do it again I would do the same.  You can always use your top/pants to break up your silhouette effectively.

If you don't want to look military don't plan on carrying a rifle with additional mags/armor/med etc. all over you and for sure don't plan on wearing a helmet with your NV/Thermal setup on it.  At some point with all the pieces of kit your going to look military regardless of what pattern or color you've got.  I would spend the money on what you like and use it.

@FrankD totally agree. Yeah I definitely wouldn’t spend the money to “re-do” what I already have. I just meant shifting to multicam as I acquire new things like a chest rig/plate carrier, etc.

That’s a great point though. If you’re gonna run around with all the things, you’ll have that look regardless.

thanks!
