Ruger 10/22 Bipod

Well I picked up the $40 bipod @ WallyWorld last night. I also picked up a swivel sling mount as my 10/22 didn't come with one.

Using a piece of string I ran from the center of the trigger down the stock to the center of the barrel (based on the front sight). I then used the bipod to place the stud based on the barrel band.

After drilling and rechecking my stud is dead on center (based on the string). When I attach the bipod it isn't level. It's off by about 1cm on one side... Flipping the bipod around still leads to the rifle leaning to the same side, but on the opposite leg.

Again, as far as I can tell my stud is dead center on the stock. But the fact that the rifle leans to the left no matter which leg of the bipod on that side makes me want to think my stud is off.

One side note. Fully extending the legs on the bipod when it is off the rifle shows that there is a small difference in the length of the legs.

What do you all think? Is the bipod s**t, or is the installer a lousy POS?

Sorry to get off topic, but the best "add on" you can make to that rifle is a volquartsen target hammer. I've put them in both of the rifles I have and it makes the trigger seem like a different rifle. Kind of a trigger job in a bag. You wont be sorry you did it.

No problem on the hijack. That is actually my next upgrade to the rifle.

i was wanting to ask the SAME question... Hrm.. I dont wanna drill into my stock .. its a orginal from 1975 my dad would KILL ME!

I went ahead and drilled when I first started this thread. Checked, rechecked, had my dad check, my fiance check, and my friend check, all said its dead center. It was defiantly the cheap Chinese bipod.

If you aren't looking to drill, just get a replacement stock w/ the swivel nuts in it already. You can always put the original back on in about 5 minutes.

Yea.. Did you try to get another bipod? or where they ALL off?

Didn't want to bother going back to wal-mart to return if the next one was off. I'm just going to order one of this intarwebz thingy.
