The Governor is out of the loop if this bill is approved by the Senate, but we do have to wait until both Speakers of the House and Senate have signed the bill to become law. It may take a couple of days.

Both speakers have already signed it originally , I am pretty sure they don't have to again. If they did, then we would still be holding for the House speaker signature before the Senate could touch it.

If it wasn't for all the BS that is unnecessary, as far as I'm concerned, a

lot more could get done that could help people more.

Oh, that was Sen. Henry? Doddering old fool. I think he's spent too much time at those honky tonks downtown trying to forget the troubles of the day.

So what is it that you think may not get done, because they take time to honor someone?

I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure they both have to sign it again... And back before it went to the Governor, the bill sat on the Speaker of the House desk for a day or two waiting on his signature. If I get a few minutes today I'll do the research on TN veto overrides, but I'm pretty sure they must sign some official paper work before this bill becomes law. Also, keep in mind that while this was passed first in the House it didn't need to, it could in theory have been brought up in the Senate first.... So the Senate taking this up today is not technically because they were waiting on the House.

Honor who? If it was somebody with a household name, yeah. Just

because he did this and everybody liked him, yada, yada. Hey, how come

members of your family or my family haven't been honored by the Senate,

why would you want them to? It's stupid IMHO.

I'm kinda amazed at how some members here think that just because this bill is important to us it should have tip-top priority. You have waited what, 13 years? You'll wait 15 minutes.

NO I WILL NOT!

Wait, what do you mean I don't have a choice?

Dangit.

It's just the latest in the long line of delays......

This is the way it is done. They introduce guest, do memorials, do other announcements like this and recognitions at the beginning of every session. The house does it as well. Just part of it.
